Hello Princess Leia!  Long time no see!

Gee, it's already 2009!  Don't always get to use the communal computer here, but I'm on it now.
2008---Hmmmm....verrrry interesstinct!   Don't think I'd want to do it again, it caused some major stresses!
BUT HIGHLIGHTS:
1--Met some awesome people through my placement at the Centre for Education and Research on Aging and Health (CERAH) and they've helped my finish my Honours Bachelors Degree in Social Work. (Thank God it's done!)
2--had to take a job in retail as stock clerk to help pay my rent. Very humbling-but gave me awesome insight into myself and people.
3--In making a quick decision to move to Tucson, Az, for job hunting, I have had a big lesson in 'letting go' of 'stuff' . My possessions have been reduced by half and in the spring when I go back to Thunder Bay, that will be reduced even more.  Because there is now 2500 miles between me and my 'baby' (but now adult) Quinton I certainly have had to let him try out his 'wings'.
He's doing okay!  And I have had to get used to the idea that those things I have left for him are his--and if he decides to get rid of them, so be it.  ((Although the fridge was only one year old!  But he gets one that is built into the hallway because his apartment is soo0 small...))
4--I like myself!! It has taken me 50 years to say it and mean it! BUT I DO!!  This is a major breakthrough!
5--I realize that I am not a 'lone stranger'--I NEED people! I DO NOT want to live alone. This is a pretty big revelation! I always thought I could be perfectly happy by myself--but I know now that I need a living, breathing
human residing with me.
6--My faith in God has grown through this spur-of-the-moment decision to move to Arizona. Everything just fell into place and the move has been seamless. (Big lessons though! See above!) And I just know that there is job here in Tucson with my name on it!

And I guess that's it for now..
Happy New Year!!

Hello...I had my RNY   and I am almost 9 months out. I have lost about 65# and 'am down to 145#.   I feel fantastic as I have carried the excess weight since 1972.  I am now wearing jeans that are size petite small and I am told by friends and family that I shouldn't lose anymore weight.  I am 5'2 and I want to lose another 15 pounds.  I don't feel rushed so I am doing well.
I had stalled at 155 for nearly two and a half months and finally centered in on a low carb diet and higher protein intake.  I have lost nearly ten pounds in the last month and 'am moving right along nicely.
I have wonderful new relationships with beautiful people from all over the country...something I stayed away from all these years.  I am more enthused in my art work and the wonderful humanitarian work being done throughout the world.  My heart has opened and I feel great compassion for all the people I know and do not know.  I feel peace and contentment in my heart and spirit-soul....I could not have said this last year.  I like the way life is today and I look forward to all my tomorrows....Barbara
