question.
I realize this may not be the most politically correct questions - but if he can't lose some before surgery - 1: will he be healthy enough to have surgery? and 2: how will he be successful after surgery - it is only a tool and doesnt make the choices for you - you still need to use it and make better choices? Just some things to think about.
I agree with LAFoster she has some great points. My doctor was one of those *****quired you to lose a % of weight prior to sugery. This was to be sure that we are committed to a life style change and begin healthy habits. I wanted the surgery so bad that I was determined and I lost double the amount that was required. It also helps shrink the liver. Other clinics have you do the Liquid diet for 2 weeks that would be another thing to think about if he could handle that.
I wish him all the best!!

Hi - My husband was 483 lbs & knew that he wouldn't be able to lose the 150 lbs that one clinic required. Then we were referred to the Park Nicollet clinic & Dr. Tom Jones. He didn't reauire my dh to lose an ounce & did the surgery1 1/2 months later. That was May, 2004. He is down to 250 & I had my surgery with the same clinic in August, 2005 - & am down 100. We are both pleased a*****h, and are grateful he didn't have the pre-op loss to do. He is meticulous about the gym - goes every day & eats what he should. He is maintaining well & sometimes even still loses a lb here & there. I have done well, but recently have been eating naughty. I will lose the 8 lbs I have gained this month! Anyway, we love Park Nicollet! Hope this helps.
