Hello everyone, as you can tell from the topic this is my first post here. Yesterday I completed my 3 month visit to the dietician, now I have 3 more to go. My wife told about this site as a good source for some support so I figured I'd try it out. What prompted me to join is that I seem to be going through some pre-op jitters, maybe just a little anexiety. Has anybody else had this? Like I fel what happens if I go through all of this and it doesn't work? Anybody have and interesting pre-op jitter stories? Please let me know.

Welcome to the boards!  It is a great place for support.  I think we all had pre-surgery jitters, anxiety and concerns.  I think if we didn't that would be unusual.  I would guess that many of us thought we would be the 1 case where the surgery didn't work.  If you follow the guidelines and make the best choices you can - it will work - there are many success stories on here to attest to that.   Best wishes on your journey!  Ask questions and post - or join us at a coffee group - several groups get together for informal chatting and sharing and cheerleading on Saturday mornings.

It didn't work for me !!

LOL

Welcome!  We ALL were nervous and thought we'd be the one in the medical books that was the anomaly that it didn't work for.
Your normal its a big step but its scarier to sit and think about the heart attack or something else that would come from obesity.
Hang in there and know that most of all your stages are normal.

Hugs and keep us updated!

I had major pre-op jitters... you sometimes start reading on these forums about the bad stuff that CAN happen to people and it freaks you out. I just had to keep my eyes on the prize. It's very normal to have jitters - it's healthy even! Welcome to the MN forum!! :)

Hi, welcome.  You're 1/2 way through your 6 months of dietician visits, that's great!  I had to do a 6 month "medically supervised" weight loss attempt, which I met w/ dieticians once a month through my hospital's program.  I had some major anxiety before surgery and the day of.  While most people have concerns, worries, thoughts about not doing it, I think I'm an example of the extreme. I'm sure you've considered surgery for a long time and have come to the conculsion that it's what's best for you.  I'm only 3 weeks out and am glad I did it, even THIS early on.

Welcome!!
Yup, jitters & didn't think it would work for me.  I'm trying to follow the rules so that I never go back.  I only wish I had done it years ago.  This and coffees are the best place that I have found for support.

Welcome to the boards...I'm pre-op also.  Alot of anxiety has not hit me yet.  For me, my anxiety is higher about being over weight for another second than the surgery itself.  I have a consult with my surgeon in a couple weeks and should have my surgery date then.  THEN, I'm sure my anxiety level will be bumped up a notch!

Best wishes to you on the next three months with your dietitian.  Keep us posted on how you're doing.  As stated in previous posts, the Saturday morning coffee is a great support system to have.  Join us sometime!!!

Welcome to the boards!! Do a lot of lerking, reading, post questions, join in conversations and ignore the crabby stuff that sometimes happens on the different boards.
Congrats on making this life changing decision!!
