Well, I am new to this whole weight loss surgery and I am jsut getting the ball rolling for myself and thought I would make a post.  I am planning on getting my lap band at Park Nicollet and I would be interested in talking to anyone else who has had the same procedure done at Park Nicollet.  I am at the very begining of the whole process, went to my informational meeting, and just today handed in all of my paperwork they require before seeing them.  Would be nice to talk to someone who has had the same thing done at the same place.

Thanks!

I can't help you with that since I had RNY through Fairview SD, but wanted to say HI and welcome you to the board.  Lots of helpful people here.

Hi!  I had the lap band done through the Park Nicollet program 2 years ago and it's worked out very well for me.  I'm still plugging away towards my goal, and hope to get there this year.   What would you like to know?

Well, I have a lot of questions and I guess most of them can be directed towards the clinician whenever I get to go in and meet with them.  I am just really anxious and wonder if the lap vs. bypass is the right choice, I wonder if the post surgery experience is the same for both?  Are you as restricted as you are with the bypass?

Congratulations on taking the steps to improve your life. I had lap band surgery a little over 2 years ago, at Unity hospital. Best thing I've ever done for myself!!! From what I've observed there are some major post op differences. You've got to get your head wrapped around the idea that the weight loss is much slower than with RNY. And in the beginning, you probably won't feel much restriction and can eat a lot more than those who have had RNY. Once you start getting fills though, you will eat less. There are no dumping issues, so it really does come down to choices from day one. If you have any other questions, I love talking about it. I've lost 116 lbs. and am now maintaining.
