OT: Did Ya Watch BIggest Loser?????

I haven'****ched Biggest Loser since before my RNY.  Before WLS I had SERIOUSLY considered going on~ due to small kids and having to be away 3-4 months made the decision NO but oooo wanted too.  So I watched it last night and OOOO the thoughts and emotions that ran thru me so I thought I'd share and see what you thought.......

I sat and watched all the people and my first reaction was~ which one was the most like I was!~ that amazd me that I was trying to identify.
The more I watched, my girls watched as they could see mom's tears fall and asked why?.....I simply said "do you remember mommy being that way"......from that moment on we were all silen****ching.
Then I got inspired!  WOW!!  The determination, the reasons why, ect.  There was a 19 yr. boy weighing in at 454~ the highest ever on Biggest Loser.  There was a 63 year old couple wanting to lose weight and be around for their grandkids.  IS it JUST ME or do these stories sound familar?
MY BIGGEST SHOCK!!!  The 400 some pound man and son couple.  HE HAD RNY and ended up gaining after RNY.  They didn't get into why he gained.  This just proves that WLS is JUST A TOOL~ use it or waste it.

So I will, be watching as I can't WAIT to see people succeed at any weight loss AND THE AFTER WL!!!

If you watched~ how did it make you feel?  What did you think?  Who could you identify with? or any other comment....
If you didn'****ch~ just by what I wrote~ What do you think?  Are you inclined to watch?
Looking for YOUR OPINIONS!!!
Have a great day!
HUGS

I find Jillian disturbing - yelling at them & stuff. I will NO****ch! We all know being SMO / SSMO that diets don't work.

As for the failed RNY, I believe there was a medical reason his surgery failed him...I could be wrong and have missed something though.

I hope they all do well, but let's face it - they have a GREATER risk of return on the weight & we here know better!

(but that's JMHO 'cuz you asked...)

I will agree with you about the trainers yelling!!~ VERY not nice!!  And yet I find that she really does care for them~ just my observation.  Like I said with the RNY they didn't give any other details other then that he had it.....HOPEFULLY they will disclose more in the next weeks!!

THANK for your input  AMY!!!  HUGS!!

I 'm with Amy on this one.  I refuse to watch it.  I think it's my own "issues" with weight and not the show itself, although I hate reality TV.  Maybe it's being dragged to TOPS club at age 9 and all the weight loss contests we had in that club.  If you weren't the biggest loser...you were a failure.  I know the majority of the country loves the show and these are real people who inspire others, but there's something about parading up there in front of others and being judged that bugs me.

But that's what's great about this country...I don't have to watch it, but others can if they wish to!

You went to TOPS too?!?!  WOW, me too!  I was 12...yeah, THAT was a pain and added more torture!!  My "own issues" is what has kept me from watching it for all these post op years but when I seen the commercial about the 19 yr. old 454 guy for some reason I watched.....I now know why I didn'****ch but I want to find out more now....
Thanks for sharing your take on it!!!

Hi Sandie,

No I didn****ch biggest loser.  I just dont get into that one for some reason, but Monday night I cought the beginning of some weightloss reality show on cable, I cant remember the name of it it was "Tribe" something and it was about 5 girlfriends who wanted to lose weight together and they were set up with a trainer yada yada yada.  Anywho, they started out with a weigh-in and a few of them were in tears and as I watched, I was sobbing for them and for me.  My husband was like, "whats wrong"!  I just remember what it was like and I felt so bad for them and I started feeling like I have this great tool and I feel like I am wasting it and I want to do better and all kind of emotions came out.  It was really hard to watch so I turned the tv off and went to bed and cried myself to sleep.

Isn't it weird how it brings back that feeling????  Hon, I believe in you!!  YOU CAN DO IT!!  And remember, this isn't the "easy way out" as some people have told us, it is alot of hard work and dedication!!  YOU CAN YOU CAN YOU CAN!!!!

Sandie,

I did watch......I always watch this show.......It inspires me even more......

I LOVE Gillian & Bob......The more they yell the better....IMHO.....That's what coaches do to people to get them motivated.......Is it rough, Yes.....But if they didn't yell, the people would give up and not try as hard.......I had a personal trainer for 1 month, years ago, he yelled at me, he made me lift the weights till I couldn't lift them anymore.......It's all on motivation and giving it your all.....

Watching this just reminds me why I did this......I wanted to LIVE and be HEALTHY.........Today I have a whole new outlook again, Exercise my butt off and stick to the program......And I will reap the benefits.......

I can't wait to watch these people loose the weight and feel good about themselves.....It's so rewarding to watch........Because I've been there, we've all been there and know how they feel........I look forward to each episode......

I have a few books from the Biggest Looser......They are pretty good reads......

Thanks for posting this......Kelly

I was amazed in how much they lost in ONE WEEK!!!   I can't wait to see who gets to come back!!  AND I wonder if they will join a gym when they get home with a Personal Trainer or what THEY will do to keep it all up?!?!  Til Tues!!
Thanks for your input!!
Hugs

I did watch part of it - it made me cry.  And I do find it very motivating, too.
