Ladies day and anemia

I have been seeing some posts about what to take for cramping after rny, being that rny'ers can't take nsaids. With my monthly cycle getting heavier and intense cramping as I have gotten older, this was almost more than I could take if I did not eat aleeve like candy during my cycle. And along with these changes my iron levels kept dropping  and I would go anemic so I checked into and decided to get a uterine ablation. I needed to get the issue of anemia under control before the rny(hopefully 30-90days away) so that it was not an ongoing issue after. The experience was not to bad pain was minimal didn't even pick up pain meds but the recovery from anesthesia stunk felt like i was run over by a mac truck.
I am looking forward to lighter or next to no monthly. It's a relief to have this done before the rny I was stressing a bit about this and the effect after bypass I just had this done so I won't know how effective it was until next cycle but if anyone has any advice or input please post.

Trish,

I had the Ablation done a few months ago.....Best thing I've ever done next to the RNY......They didn't put me out though, they gave me something called a MAC?

I only wear pantiliners while I have my period. And for only 3 days......I have a normal life again......Before when I got it I couldn't leave the house for 2 days because it was so heavy.......

Hope this worked for you also......Some people don't even get a period after the ablation.....Mine is next to none.....

Okay, so I'll give you another possible outcome.  It may NOT help.  I had the ablation done because of severe uterine fibroids, but it didn't help my bleeding.  My case may have been extreme, I don't know, but I did end up having a hysterectomy because all other attempts to control it failed.

And that was the best thinghad ever done up 'til my RNY!!!  But I hope it does the trick for you, that would surely be a blessing...

I am going in for an ablation on Tuesday and I am hoping for some relief. Any advice anyone can give would be much appreciated.

I was just reading your post and I just had an ablation done yesterday. My cycles were so heavy and I got cramps so badly that even viicodin wouldn't even cure the pain.I couldn't exercise and worst of all I think i had more food cravings before my cycle arrived.I sure hope theis does the trick. My doctor found a polyp when performing the surgery. She thinks that was 1/2 of my problems. That couldn't be detected when i had the ultra-sound.However i did have a few fibroids that were small.I'm happy i decided to have this done.,so now i can exercise and not have to be in pain.Good luck to the one who is having it done next week,i wish you the best of luck,

I had a procedure called 'Nova Sure' done in August.before I was in the bathroom every 15-30 minutes, now it's very light for about 4 days.
If you Google the procedure, you can have them send you out an information packet.
Best thing I did, other than WLS!

The Nova Sure is what I had done yesterday, hoping for next period to see if it works for me
