Does anyone have any info re: a stretched stoma or have you experienced this?  I assume they have to do an upper GI or whatever to determine if the stoma has stretched.  I am wondering if that is why I am struggling so much and getting hungry so quickly.
In all honesty, I havent been back to see my surgeon for a while.  I guess I better make an appointment.  I just was wondering if anyone out there had any info to share or experience with a stretched stoma???

Thanks!

From a newbie--- Is the stoma the hole from the esophogus to the stomach? If it is streched, can that be fixed?

Hi Kristy,

yes the stoma is the opening from the pouch to the new intestine.  I think there are different meathods of "fixing" some are considered experimental though.  Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge/experience with this kind of problem???

Thanks!!

I would really look at what you are eating! If you are eating alot of white prcessed foods such and Crackers and such and not protien dense foods I know for a fact that you will be more hungry. Also if you drink Diet PoP that can increase your hunger as well. If you are feeling empowered to eat more food and you need some help I would try the 5 day pouch test. It will clear all the bad carbs out of your system. I just did it and I can really feel my stomach once again. Just google 5 day pouch test and you will find the web site. Hope this helps. I am not sure how far out you are.

Thanks Jimmyv,

i have been thinking about trying the pouch test.  I'll have to print it off and give it a shot!  A lot better than a camera down the hatch, right!! hahaha

I do have a little diet soda now and then but have been trying to stay away from a lot of carbs.

THANKS!!!

Do you drink with meals?  I know that I fight with this and that I get hungrier easier when I drink and eat. When I limit my liquid, I do feel full longer and it is easier to feel full.

Hi Karen,
I dont drink with meals 99% of the time but there have been a few times when i have eaten and just feel like I have to have something to drink, so I have done it but for the most part I dont.  Maybe I just need to wait longer than 30 minutes after a meal?  I know some folks that have been told by their surgeon to wait a little longer after their meal than the std 30 minutes to drink because they were getting hungry faster?  I can certainly try it, but that's going to be a tough one!
THANKS!!!
