Mankato area??

Is there anyone from the Mankato area???

I am from Winthrop, get to Mankato about once a month or so. I was looking for people in the New Ulm or Hutchinson area, only found 1 so far from Hutch. Where are you in the process of WLS?   Linda

Hi am pre-op hoping to have RNY in late Feb. or March sometime, one more dietician visit and then wait for insurance approval.  How is it going for you? Why did you decide to do the band-vs-RNY? I wasn't sure what to do, but because of health issues the doc. said it would be better to get the weight off quicker.?? Good luck let me know how you are doing.   Linda

I bet your so excited!  I was actually approved twice in the past to have the RNY, but backed out.  It was several years ago and something just scared me about the surgery.  My mom had it in 2002 and was in so much pain the first 3-4 weeks, but she has lost about 177 pounds and is doing great.  Now the surgery is much safer & simpler (from what I hear).  The band appealed to me because it was less invasive and the recovery time is much faster.  I was banded on 12/3 and never had any problems or pain.  I was back to work within 10 days.  I just wish the weight loss was faster.  Unfortunately I feel like I can still eat whatever I want.  I get my first fill on Wednesday, I can't wait!
