hunger 2 weeks post op
I need some advice and am serious concerned that something is wrong with my surgery. I had rny on 12/292008. I was fine the first week, didn't throw up or anything. Able to do fine with liquids. I am now on soft solids for the second week. I am hungry!!!! It is not the head hunger where you see something and want to eat it. It is belly growling hunger. I ate 2 crackers with tuna on it at about 12:15 pm and here it is 5 hours later and I am starving. I don't mean like I would like to eat something, I mean hid you thighs because I am going to start chewing on them. I am concerned that my pouch is either not small enough or something is wrong with my surgury. I know that the day after surgury, in the morning, the kitchen brought up cream of wheat for me to eat and I asked the nurse if that was indeed OK for me to eat, I thought it should be clear liquids, and she said that it was fine. She held up the ticket on the the tray for me to see that said "gastric bypass post-op tray". So I added some milk and ate it. My surgeon comes in about an hour later and I told him doing great. Look I ate the cream of wheat and had no problems, he grabs the bowl and goes to the charge nurse, I guess that they have had a lot of problems with the kitchen understanding what is concerned a clear liquid and what is a soft diet tray. He was livid!!!! I am now concerned that I may have stretched the pouch out from that first sitting and that is why I am hungry. Everybody I can find says, I have no hunger at all. I have to remind myself to eat. I am drinking the appropriate amount of water 64 oz in the day, I don't drink during a meal and 45 min after. I am taking my vitamins and supplements. If I am going to be hungry like this, I am going to have a problem. I am almost to the point that I want the surgeon to go back in there and exam the pouch and see if it was stretched. Again, not head hunger, I am going to eat you kind of hunger. Help please!!!!

I was banded on 12/3 and felt hungry 5 days after surgery after the swelling went down. It usually takes a couple of fills before we will feel restriction and not be hungry. I was so discouraged as well and impatient also. We just have to try and do our best, hang in there. Best of luck to you!
