I burned an extra 650 calories today....according to memorial blood centers due to the fact that I donated blood.  I don't know how accurate that really is, but I felt fine afterwards (I had chex mix, not a cookie, though) and I am hoping to get back into the habit of doing this again after not having done so because my blood pressure was higher than it should have been.

RP~ you are such an amazing guy!!  You give more then you realize!!  YOU are an inspiration!!!

Wish I could donate!  My BP is tooooo low and they won't let me~ something about I need all the fluid in me not taken out to keep my BP up enough to prevent the dizzy/passout spells!

Wow!  I never knew donating blood burned that many calories!  That's great!  I used to donate, but can't now due to low hemoglobin and having a gene that causes blood clotting.  Plus, I tend to have low blood pressure, too.

Hooray for you RP!!!  Donating blood is one of the best things you can do for the community at large.  I was a regular donor before my original cancer was diagnosed   Did you know that your one pint of donated blood can actually help to save up to 9 people???

For those of you (including me) who can no longer donate for one reason or another remember that the Red Cross and Memorial Blood Center can also use volunteers.  If you have the time and desire they will put you to work!!

Good for you!!  I didn't know about the calories burned.
