Nothing like a good migraine to get one back on track
My drug (food) of choice is ice cream. It had become a bad habit of eating it nearly every night for a long long time. When I started this process back in August, I gave up the ice cream. Not just because I was exploring WLS but because I was also getting terrible headaches from it.
Well last night I was feeling a little down and there was ice cream in the freezer left over from my sons birthday. Well I had some(still pre-op). I knew I shouldn't have, I have been trying so hard to lose this last 10lbs need to have my surgery. What can I say, I fell off the wagon a bit.
Well let me tell you, I got a giant sized migraine as payback. I woke up at about 3 am with a splitting headache. I thought I could sleep it off, no such luck. By 6am it was a full blown migraine. I was dizzy, nauseous, seeing spot, the whole works. All I had it the house was Tylenol, so I took some knowing it wouldn't help. All it made me do was puke(sorry tmi).
I called my hubby at work and asked him to stop at Walgreen's and pickup some Excedrin Migraine. He did, I took two, laid back down for about another hour or so and it worked.
I still have the residual migraine hang over right now but hopefully as the day goes on I will feel better.
That will teach me to eat ice cream again.
Boy...do I know where you are coming from with the migraines!! I've had them for the past 10 years and they are horrid. Good to know now that ice cream is a trigger food for you and incentive to stay away from it!!! Nice that Excedrin Migraine works for you. Otherwise, depending on how often you get them, there are some great medications out there. I take a med that melts in my mouth...great for WLS!!!
Take care,
Stephanie
