Frustrated!
So I'm 6 months out and at 175, starting weight 256. And I know that things will be slowing down but I've STOPPED for like 2 weeks, haven't budged! I'm starting to get worried that I'm done! I want to get to 150. I started snowboarding lessons and water aerobics so maybe my body is just adjusting. Any one else go through this??
Thanks
Sarah
Could be inches and not pounds. It could also be that your body has reached a 'comfy' weight that it used to be at... and it needs a reallly big budge to get it to move.
I have not seen you on the boards in forever! I just have to tell you...we are at the same place! I started at 256 and am at 172 and have been here for 2 months! :O( However, I am just about 10 months out! It'll happen. Follow the rules and that is super that you are snowboarding and doing water aerobis. I hope you don't have to snowboard today? Brrr........
Start Weight: 256
Today: 171
Down: 85
Still want to lose: 31
BMI 30.4
I know I've been hiding for awhile, life has just gotten so busy!! I just need to let my body do what it needs to but it's frustrating! It's like the DAY of my 6 month my body stalled. I've been drinking water like it's going out of style so that could have something to do with it! No no snowboarding today, my lessons are on Sunday mornings at 10:45. It's awesome and I can feel my abs tighening. Acutally they were sore like after surgery where coughing hurt, but this time it's a good sore!
I apologize as I haven't read any of the responses yet, but thought I'd share my experience w/you.
I *KNEW* going into this that I would have plateaus. I just never realized how loooong they could last. I re-joined Curves the Sept. after my surgery (just under 2mos out) and had my weight and measurements done. I decided...for the heck of it...to do my own measurements every month on the same day. At 1 point I was at Curves exercising 5-6 days a week and was happy w/my WL. Then I would hit that stupid plateau. If I was lucky, the scale wouldn't budge for a week, then move. At times I could go 4-6wks before the scale would cooperate. During this time when I wasn't losing pounds, I discovered that I was still losing INCHES! The weight I was losing and muscle I was gaining would redistribute itself, my clothes would feel different, fit better (most times) and I could see I was still getting some results.
It's so difficult to have such a big WL, then have it seem to hault. Sometimes our bodies just need to catch up and take a break. Sometimes we need to switch things up. If you're exercising 5+ days a week and can't bear to stop, then alternate how intense you work. Give it your all on days 1-3-5, but don't work out as intense (take it easy) on days 2-4-6, etc. Are you getting all your fluids in? That was a problem for me. When I was able to up my H2O, it helped get the WL started again. How's your protein? Sometimes you need to increase that, sometimes you need to eat more/less altogether. Sometimes your body does get used to the exercises you're doing and you need to change that up too.
Don't give up, and though it's easier said than done, don't get discouraged!! You are almost there and can do it!! Just have patience as best you can. You're doing just awesome! Congrats!!!
