Personally, I have found that my POLARTEC long-johns (available at Cabela's) do the trick!  That, plus lots of layers, my Steger Mukluks (mukluks.com) and stylin' scarves that I keep around my neck darn near 24/7.  (Okay, I don't SLEEP with a scarf on, that'd be suicide.  But most days, I've got a warm fuzzy around my neck!  Plus, knitting them gives my hands something to do!)

I would never claim to run, my knees won't allow it...  but I DO "trot" from my car across the parking lots to the stores & such I visit!  Just to get me OUT of the cold that much quicker!

As for my favorite protein rich snack?  PEMMICAN ORIGINAL BEEF JERKY!  mmm.... think I'll have me a couple of pieces right now!!

Sandy,

Good topic.......

On cold days I like to make good protein meals like- Chilli or roast beef with veggies, smells the house all up, Yum......Plus the oven warms the house......

Today I worked out on my home gym, it worked, I got warm.........Other day's I jog on my treadmill.......

For a snack I recently found, Jack Links beef steak sticks, you can have 3 pieces for 75 calories, 1g. fat, 2g. sugar, 14g. protein. They are small but good, and 3 fill me up....I got mine at Walmart.

If I really need to take the chill off, a nice hot shower.....  :)

Clothing:

- I wear a hat and a hood when I go outside
- I wear a hooded zip-up sweatshirt during my waking hours at home
- I wear PJs and socks when I go to bed
- I actually use a blanket when I go to sleep
- I take the time to put on a coat and hat whenever I go outside, even if it is just to get something out of the garage

Food/Beverage:

- I drink 16 to 32 OZ/day of hot herbal or low caf tea
- I eat hot oatmeal for breakfast, fortified with ground flax seed
- I make chili for dinner more often

Exercise:

- I walk on the dreaded treadmill rather than outside some days
- I am very careful about layering when I do walk outdoors or go snowshoeing
- I walk inthe downtown Minneapolis skyways when it is just too cold to be outside for very long

for me flannels, slippers and sweaters are the fashion wear. I make my DH crazy in bed....... NO not that! The electric heater is running in the bedroom, I have slippers on, PJ pants, long sleeve PJ shirt and 3 heavy blankets.   I was never like this before, just since losing weight.

Warm tea helps the inside. I don't have a favorite protein meal/snack, I always have several things around home so I can grab what I'm craving.
