Park Nicollet Support Group Meeting earlier (technically yesterday)

I went to the meeting tonight.  Just wondering if anyone from here at OH was in attendance.  Just curious.  Would like to put faces to names and I'm looking for weight loss buddies, of course.  If you were there, I was the newcomer with just a week and a half under my belt.  I'm glad I went to the meeting.  It was insightful and made me feel better about my food cravings, even though we didn't specifically talk about that.  (It's all related though, isn't it?  Coping... stress... cravings...)

Hope to get to know some of you more in real life and online.

I was there - mukluks & all!  I meant to say something to you when the meeting ended, welcoming you and giving you a high-five for coming so shortly after your surgery!  That's AWESOME!!!

(Although Elena has you beat, she was there about 25 HOURS after her surgery.  Then again, she's a nut job... )

Welcome,

I was there too. I was sitting next to Mark. I'm Tracy - the one with the curly hair.  So glad you ventured out in the cold to join us. If you continue to attend, and begin attending some of the coffees that are scheduled, you will soon find a whole new bunch of friends you never expected getting out of this surgery.  It is so important to be around other "losers" (that's a very fond name I have for our group) because once the "head" stuff enters into the picture, others can really help you do a reality check.

Also, to reinforce what Darla said last night, if you haven't done it yet, take a picture of yourself now, front, back and side. If you can, take it in front of the door - you'll be amazed at how much more of the door appears as the months progress. AND if you're so bold, take a pic in your bra and panties...most of us don't, but our fearless friend Elena did (click here to see http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/MN/3827258/Its-a-risk-but- I-am-damn-proud/) and I think most of us wish we had.  You don't ever have to post if you don't want, but to have for yourself is priceless.  You will need your "before" pic to remind yourself of how far you have come and to stop focusing on "where you want to be."  For example, if you remember me from last night, I was probably the largest woman in the room.  I could easily see myself as a failure - man all those other girls were WAY skinnier than me.  However, what you don't know is that I started out much larger than most of the women - 332lbs!  Now, I'll admit I haven't respected my tool the way I should and I COULD have lost more. But my point is that how can I be a failure after losing 113 pounds? The point is that I'm NOT. I'm still trying and I'm still working my tool - some days better than others - but it's so easy to get caught up in the negative - your before, during and after pics will help you realize this!  So don't be shy - take them.

Anyway, welcome here and the support groups - look forward to seeing you again!

Tracy, you SO were not the largest woman there.  You may still see yourself that way, but you weren't.  So knock it off.

I was.

Honey, do you not recall a conversation we just had...we weigh the exact same - and you're a WHOLE lot taller than me!!!  NOT to mention that my pants are 3 sizes bigger than yours!  Even that lady that hadn't had surgery yet was smaller than me!!! Speaking of that - I just LOVED her!!  Hope she comes back!
