Eating out of control, this can't be good/ haven't had rny yet

I am almost ashamed to put this out there, but here goes. I have my moments when I can stay on track with journaling (i started for insurance requirements, but continue by choice) and doing fair with eating except for the past month I have been out of control it ****** me off that I can't stay on track, I know that this is part the reason for rny but this is the mindless eating and not turning the sweets away that will screw me up after wards. I've read that some people say they figure out after their surgery the reasons behind their food issues but I haven't except that I fricken love to eat   I have chosen the rny because it will restrict me but I know it won't be the end all if I don't permanently make changes.
Am I worrying prematurely and just let it go then deal with whats in the now (when I have the rny)
Waiting for authorization/ surgery hopefully soon.

Well first of all, I commend you for trying to practice now what you will NEED to do after surgery - it's good preparation, it's a good TEST of your resolve to make this work for you!  And kudos for recognizing that it is only a tool, that you have to make changes to properly USE your tool.  These, to me, are all GOOD signs!

Some people feel the need to seek some sort of counseling or psych help to get themselves fully into the game, or to deal with issues that make them eat.   I think I am a lot like you - I ate because I LOVE FOOD!  No emotional issues, just love to eat!  But after 45 years of eating excessively and hauling my carcass around, I was ready to try something different.  Only YOU know if you are truly ready to make the changes, to totally re-create your relationship with food.  The tool helps, but the head works it.

Also, if you're getting close to approval and scheduling a date, you could be having your last hurrah with food!  Last supper, whatever you want to call it.  Lots of people do that - they think they'll never be able to eat X, Y or Z again, so they PIG OUT on it!  I shouldn't say "they", I should say "we" - 'cuz I was on that for sure!  (Crab legs... mmmmm....)  Thing is, you'll be able to eat most anything eventually, unless some things cause you to dump.  So you're just really saying goodbye to MASS QUANTITIES!  And frankly, when you eat a tiny quantity of something you really like?  You appreciate the dickens out of every little bite that much more!  And you eat better, 'cuz you need to fuel your body with a very limited gas tank, so you tend to put better stuff IN that tank.

So keep working on practicing good eating habits, but don't beat yourself up mercilessly for your slips.  RNY is a tool, you are a human, and as long as you keep on trying, it's all good!

Right on Darla.

Trish, I'm right with you. I'm on my Last Supper World Tour right now.  My last stop will be my home town of Philly (Go Eagles). Once I get my date, I'm planning to go back home to make my last BIG ASS MEAL a reality.  Cheesesteaks all around.

You're human and I hear mostly everyone does the same thing. I'm looking forward to my tool as well. I hope it's a Craftsman. If it breaks, I'm slamming my guts on the counter at Sears and simply say "Hell is this all about"?

Keep the faith, and can I copy some of your Journal pages?  C'mon...

Last supper world tour

One of my favorite foods was cheesecake...I had planned on pigging out on it before surgery, but by then I was so focused on what I wanted/needed to do, that it wasn't important anymore.

I remember joining weigh****chers with one of my best friends when I was in High School. He and I would hang out every day..and would make the craziest stuff, he ended up being a chef..so you can about imagine. * rolls eyes* Well, our last hurrah before joining weigh****chers was to see how many burgers we could eat from Burger King.  I think I ate 10....yes, ten
