There were 14 of us there, and it was a really cool experience!  I'm not sure about Bailey, but me & Trav will DEFINITELY be doing that again some time!

To see the pictures of the people they serve... the video.... it was amazing!  And to actually have an opportunity to sample the food they provide?  Wow... it actually wasn't half bad!  It reminded me of a kind of chow mein hotdish or something.

Anyway, Trav wants us to do this every month.  I don't know about that, but I will set it up again sometime this spring!  I could see becoming a repeat volunteer there - makes a person feel good inside!

THANKS to all you wonderful peeps that joined in!!!

I too was very moved by the experience and thought to myself that I would really like to try to make this a monthly commitment for myself.  Not sure if that is something that would work or not, don't know if they accept individuals or if you have to be part of a group - guess I will have to look into that more.

Thank you so much for organizing this and THANK YOU to Trav for being such a compassionate kid!

Hugs

I don't know specifics, but on the website it DOES indicate that they have regular times where they welcome drop-ins to volunteer!   I may take that route myself...

I also was incredibly moved by the video and pictures of those who benefit from these meals.  And it was super simple to do.  An hour of our time ended up feeding thousands of people.  If we all took the same amount of time volunteering for organizations like this - instead of sitting in front of TV and video games.  What a difference one hour makes.

For those who know my 14 year old daughter - she is very self centered and not very compassionate.  When we left there she told me that she wants to have a birthday party there so she and her friends can package food and send it overseas.  Instead of having cake and presents.  That is a testament all on its own.

I will definitely be doing this again.   Hats off to Travis and Darla for coming up with the idea and for setting it up.  It not only helped thousands of people overseas, it helped us as well.
