Do you have a dog?  Or a water softener?  Figure out how many bags of dog food or softner salt would equal the difference between what YOU weigh, and what SHE weighs.

Find a nice big backpack, fill it with the food or salt, and ask HER to haul it around for a day or 365.  Maybe she'll come away from that experience with a bit more compassion?!

 Just a thought...

Valarie....you have rersearched and planned. Don't let anyone control  what you feel is best for you. If it is our time to go it is just that. You will be fine.

Keep strong....believe in yourself!!

This isn't an easy journey but the rewards are many and soooo worth the ride!!!

Your mom will come around when she sees how healthy and happy you are!!

Hugs....connie d

Hi Valerie,
I know exactally how you feel.my family was afraid  if I had the surgery. They were against it. My doctor told me if i didn't have the surgery done,i wouldn't live as long and I wouldn't be able to get around very well. It's been 10 months now I've lost 175 lbs.40 prior to the surgery. My family is so tickled and happy for me.They've relaxed and finally realized it was the right thing to do.Good luck.I'm sure everything will work out fine.Tracy

Everyone else has said everything I was thinking... but just to say it again - this is YOUR journey. It's so incredibly frustrating when people don't support you (because we so badly want that support since we are a little unsure of the situation ourselves). Find the one or two people that are supportive in your life and stick to them like glue... even if it's your doctor, lol

You have done the research, you know what to do, now show your mom the amazing results it will bring for both you AND her.... and she may just come around... in due time.
