Anyone w/ BCBS PPO of MN have any plastics covered at all
If so, I COULD USE YOUR HELP!!!!
I saw a ps yesterday who is planning to submit everything to insurance and try to get some of it covered. Even though I live in GA, my insurance is through MN.
If you've tried to go the insurance route for any plastics, please share your experiences with me.
What not to do, and what worked.
Thanks!!

I will definitely contact her. Thanks for the suggestion.
He's doing fine. He's lost 50lbs and is sugar is better controlled. He is not off insulin, but takes about 1/2 or less than he did before.
He's having a lot of trouble with his eyes, his retinopathy just keeps getting worse --- his doc says he's paying for the 'sins of the past' from all the years of diabetes. It's hard news to take, but we keep trying to be positive that this surgery will move him in the right direction and stop any further damage. His last A1C was 6!!!

Hi there
I'm in Nevada now, but had BCBS PPO when I lived in Minnesota and had my plastics done in '04 and '06. I' had a panniculectomy/abdomnioplasty that the insurance paid for. I also had my arms done and also a breast lift. They did not cover these last two surgeries.
I was denied the first time for the tummy work. I had to appeal. When I did the appeal, in addition to the pictures, I had to have a letter from my plastic surgeon, my primary doctor and myself. Basically, they want proof that it is medically necessary. I believe that the letter from myself was what really helped with them approving the surgery. I explained how the extra skin affected my quality of life. I wasn't able to exercise because of the skin. I explained how I had had this surgery to get healthy, which I am, and that if I wanted to continue along this path, I needed to get the skin removed so I could keep up with the exercise. Hope this helps.
Good luck to you.
Peggy

Just my experience. Had documentation of rashes and meds tried, doc letters, 2 specialists letters and PS letters and I was denied several times. Good luck to you!
