HI all,

I was wondering how long was it from the time you did your paperwork and everything else needed to day you had your surgery? I know everyone is different but just wondering about it.

Thanks much!

I had done quite a bit of research before I went to the surgeons seminar and had made the decision that I wanted wls.  I went to the seminar in mid October and surgery mid December.  My surgeon was a few weeks out after the seminar so my PCP ordered all the pre-op requirements, these were provided to me at the seminar.  I also had a delay of a couple weeks due to an initial insurance denial.

I mailed in my paperwork on 1/17/07, had my surgery on 4/27/07.  I guess I was one of the luckier ones!

It probably took about a month or two. It took me a while to do the paperwork and pre-op things though. About 6 months total.

Went to the info session the end of november and had surgery in march. It really depends on how many hoops your insurance requires - and how persistant you are about getting your appointments lined up and checking on the paperwork trail.

Best wishes on your journey Kevin!

I had my first meeting with the clinic in August and Sugery in December. The time frame was due to my insurance requiring a 3 month structured diet plan. Once I had the approval from insurance at the end of Nomeber it was just a few weeks for the actual sugery!!

Best wishes

My insurance (BCBS) required a 6 month medically supervised weight loss attempt. After that from the day the clinic submitted to insurance to the day I was approved was 8 days. Once approved on 10/29, my surgery was scheduled for 11/26. (I ended up rescheduling to 12/11 though)
