Near Syncope and Muscle Collapse
Just wondering if anyone has experience near syncope and collapse. Here is what I mean. If you have ever gotten the feeling of blacking out when you stand up too fast, this is what I get ALL the time with a slight delay (happens after I take about 10 steps or so). I start blacking out, than my knee's jerk in and out and I try and catch myself on a counter or couch or something but my arms go completely limp where I have no use of them and I collapse to the ground. I am conscience the whole time, I never completely pass out. When I regain muscle control about 1-2 minutes after I fall to the ground, I get up and my ears feel that someone has stuffed a ton of cotton in my ears so everything is muffled and I can barely hear. Than when that end about 5 minutes later, my head goes completely numb and cold for about 30 seconds than I am fine till the next time I have been sitting for a while and I go to get up. I am used to the black out part, had that for about a dozen or so years. Its the collapse part that is new, 6 times on sunday, 4 times on monday and twice today. Just wondering if anyoen has had this and what helps? My doctors are working on it, they think it is a vitamin or mineral difficiency but don't know for sure so I am looking for any direction to offer them if I can. Thanks

My oldest son had very similar symptoms when he was 14. He was ultimately diagnosed by a cardiologist with having neurally mediated hypotension after undergoing various tests inlcuding a tilt table test where they try to induce a blackout. Essentially it is having very low blood pressure. He was put on a beta blocker, which moderated his blood pressure enough for him not to faint repeatedly. He is 26 now and is careful not to sit for too long (blood pooling in lower extremities) and to consume enough liquids to keep his blood volume up. I don't know if that is what is going on with you, but it couldn't hurt to ask your doctors about it.

Thanks. I was diagnosed with near syncopy when I was like 12 and since have dealt with that. Now its the collapse and progression of symptoms and the amount of the episodes that is concerning everyone. I have low blood pressure now because they put me on a beta blocker. I am careful to make sure I always keep my legs elevated when I do sit to help with the blood pooling. I wonder if a tilt table test would be good for me to have so they can see an episode? Thanks I will definitely ask.

Yeah I have had them since I was 12 and I was told they should get better as I lose weight but they got worse shortly after my bipass (in quantity). Now the last 2-3 aweeks they have progressively gotten worse in syptoms and now I don't think it could get much worse other than progressing to full fainting and lossing conscienceness. Thanks
