I am scheduled to see my surgeon on Feb 12 for the first time, I want to know about how long it usually takes to get to the surgery. I am Seeing Dr Glass he is from Sartell mn. I have already contacted my insurance and they cover it i meet all the requirements( BMI 60 i weigh 378 i have diabetes astma) I first started this process in california in 2005 I was on a waiting list for 3 yrs i had 2 children (now have 3) I found out when i moved to mn and asked to be removed from the waiting list that all we were waiting on was for the dr to get approved by my insurance and he wasn't complying. They didn't say anything because they didnt want to lose patients so now i am starting over and want an idea of what i am looking at. How long has it take you to get from 1st visit to surgery date?
Thanks for the help and i hope all is well for everyone!!!

Morning Angela ~

Everything depends on the surgeons office and the insurance requirements.  There are lots of Dr Glass patients on here that will be able to shed more light on how his program runs..

I wish you all the best!

Your insurance plays a big role in the time frame. For my insurance I had to do a 3 month structured diet. I had my first consult in August of '07 and had surgery Dec'07. It does go pretty fast.

Best wishes to you on your journey.
God Bless, Angela

Hi Angela!  I just had surgery Dec 30 with Dr.Glass:)  I personally had a 6 month diet per my insurance requirements, but also during that time I had to follow Dr.Glass's requirements..I saw him a total of 3 times before surgery, Kristin (the nut) 3 times and then the psyc 2 times (one for the test and once more for the results)..So there are a few months there with requirements from Glass alone even if you insurance does not require what mine did:) That was my journey anyway:)  I hope that helps you!!!

It really does depend on insurance and your surgeons schedule.  I think most people when everything falls into place it's anywhere from 3-6 months at minimum, there are SO many variables so it is really hard to predict.  I know people who have taken ALOT longer to go through the process, it just depends.

good luck!

I'm not a Dr. Glass patient, I just wanted to wish you the best!  And no matter what is required of you pre-op, IT IS SO WORTH IT!!!  Do whatever they tell you is required...  even if it sounds like it's forever away, you will be SO GLAD you did it!
