We received some bad news on Monday.  My husband lost his job. After nearly 17 years he was dismissed, no notice, no severance nothing. I feel terrible for my husband because he has been so dedicated to this company for so many years and its like he has just been tossed out with the trash. I also am glad, he has been working nights and weekends for the past 4 years and it has been a huge strain on our family.

Selfishly, I am very very angry as well, I have been approved for my surgery but am still about 6 weeks out from having it. Still trying to drop the last 8 lbs. We had this all planned out. We had padded my husbands spending account to cover the out of pocket costs along with the insurance approval I was all set. Now, i don't know what to do. I know we will be able to pick up cobra but not sure if we can afford the cost of it. Also I know my husband will find another job but I hate to bank on that  and have to go through the insurance thing all over again.

Thanks for reading.

That really sucks rotten eggs!  People are the lifeblood of most companies, but in their shortsighted drive to maintain quarterly earnings as projected, that lifeblood becomes a convenent corporate casualty.  My heart goes out to you and your husband.  You have obviously been both patient and diligent thus far in your journey to WLS and beyond and it sounds like those traits will again be needed again in the months ahead.  Please let us know how you and your WLS goal are doing as you find your way.

I'm sorry, those are some really hard decisions to make. I don't think I would want to go through the insurance process again either. Hopefully you and your husband can decide together. Good luck. I will think of you.

We havent found out how much Cobra is going to cost yet. I think that will be the deciding factor.

Sorry to hear about your husband's job loss.  I'm sure that in itself is hard enough, and now the question about the surgery you've been working towards for some time.  Hang in there, and keep us posted. Feel free to come here and vent.

Hello.....I am so sorry to hear that your husband has lost his job. Did he work for "Snyder Drug" by any chance?? They are closing all but 30 of their stores. My daughter works for them. Luckly she is at the busiest store they have so she won't be let go....or at least that is what they are saying for now.
No ones jobs are safe anymore...that is for sure!!

I wish you the best with your insurance company. Cobra is very expensive. I hope it all works out for you.

Hugs....connie d

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all this.  I live in fear of my husband coming home any day and saying "Well, that's it," it truly seems like it's just a matter of time.

I will say a prayer that he can find a new job, and that you can find a way to keep your surgery moving forward!
