I have stopped drinking pop as of this past Sunday i am only drinking water/tea/Crystal light/milk, I am eating healthier with splenda as a sub for sugar, more fruits and veggies etc....any Protien drinks or bars you could suggest, lean cuisines you like low in sugars, etc...Any ideas at all would be great!

One habit that will help you in the long run is to not drink with your meal or right after.  That is a hard one even after many years.

Another thing I started doing as soon as I started down the WLS road, was to chew the daylights out of everything I ate.  "They" say you should chew your food to the consistancy of apple sauce, and it really does take a conscious effort to do that!  But post-op, if you DON'T do that, you'll probably end up getting "stuck" a few times - and THAT is NOT pleasant!

I would agree with Hartzz...if you can get in the habit of not drinking with your meals now....it will be that much better for you in the long run.....this coming from someone who is 4.5 years out:)

I like the South Beach Living high protein cereal bars - the ones that have 140 calories and 10g protein.  Once you have surgery (assuming you're having RNY) you won't be able to eat them right away.  I tolerated them pretty soon after surgery, though.  They only have 3g sugar alcohol, which is pretty low.  I struggled a lot with sugar alcohols after surgery - made me really dump.  When you buy sugar free or low-sugar stuff, check the sugar alcohol content, because if it's high it may make you dump.  Once you're closer to surgery and after, the nutritionist will give you a detailed food plan (I went through the same practice as you - I had Dr. Benn) and if you follow it closely, you should do great.  Good luck!

My favorite protein bars are Pure Protein. I buy them at Walmart.....Target carries them too. They come in several flavors....my favorite is Chocolate Deluxe. 20 grams of protein and 2 grams of sugar per bar.

I drink Boost Glucose Control High Protein Drink. 16 grams of protein and 4 grams of sugar. Chocolate is my favorite. A complete meal in a bottle.
