Another "Jack Handy" moment...

So the snow is all but gone, and if the SUN would just shine a bit, we'd all be thinking SPRING!!!

I'm sure Old Man Winter has another blast or two for us before he retreats for the season, but ponder this...

...  What do you want to do this spring/summer that you never did as an obese person?  Will you do it?  If you're pre-op, what do you want to do once the weight starts melting away?

For me, it was 2 things.  Horseback riding, and getting on the evil Monster at ValleyFair.  I did 'em BOTH last year - went horsieback riding (and dookey-diving) at 10.5 months post-op!  And although I went to ValleyFair earlier in the summer and rode a mess of rides, I didn't face the MONSTER until our mid-August outing.  Funny how, even tho I was confident I'd fit on it, I still had a minor melt-down in line.

So do share - what do you want to do once the weight won't stop you?

Well, we booked our spring trip to Cancun...I know Amy...but I was told our resort is off the druken path.
I would have avoided a hot beachy/swimsuit atmosphere in the past-but not this year.
I'm going to ponder some more activities for summer.

I am planning a weekend hiking trip with my sons up on the Superior Hiking Trail.  I would also like to ride my bike on the Heartland trail up near Leech Lake, but that is just in the "pondering it" stage.

I would soOOOooo love to take my kids camping in the BWCA!  They're old enough now - it meant the WORLD to me back in the day, and I really hope they'd love it as much as me!  Not sure about the hiking trail, tho...  probably some old tapes playing in my head, or maybe it's my knee talking for me...

Darla,

Horseback riding is one of my goals too.  My brother and sister-in-law have horses and I can't wait to learn how to ride!  My best friend loves to ride roller costers so I want to do that too.

Other things . . .
wear shorts, go biking, go hiking, not be so dang hot all of the time, play soccer with my nephew, go camping and climb the look-out tower that the rest of my family climbs every year.  Those are just a few that come to mind right away.  I know there are lots more!

Not being sweaty 24/7 is good!

Just wondering if that look out tower is at Itasca State Park? Last year I refused to climb it, there was alot of other people and I knew that it would take me a long time, but instead I made an excuse that I wasn't feeling well. I am so tired of the excuses!! Can't wait for a date to be set!
