OT: Calico Bean Recipe
Per request:
CALICO BEANS
1 lb. ground beef (optional)
1/2 lb. bacon
1/2 large onion
1/2 c. ketchup
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 c. brown sugar (or Splenda BS equivalent)
2 tsp. vinegar
1 can pork & beans
1 can kidney beans, drained
1 can butter beans, drained
Cut bacon slices into one inch pieces. In skillet brown beef & bacon. Add onion and continue to coo****il onion becomes transparent. Drain and place in a casserole dish. Add remaining ingredients. Stir. Bake at 350 for one hour.
NOTE : X3 for a large crockpot

Is this any bit spicy??
It would be for my very Norwegian mother who thinks ketchup is spicy.
Looking at the recipe - it looks very "Minniesotan" which is ok in my book but I think you'd have to add some chili pepper or hot sauce to it to get some kick to it.
