PostOppers: What did you do with your clothes?
((Where's the Positive Smiley with the question marks above it's head?))
So once you lost your weight and was not able to wear them anymore, what did you do with them?
Did you toss them, have a nice looooong Bonfire, or did you donate them?
I plan on donating them. I already give to the Courage Center and Lupus Foundation, but I'm also going to give some to Goodwill as well.
Man, one of my sweaters will warm a family of 4 next winter. Local Car Washes can use my t Shirts to wipe down a days work worth (yea, in one shirt) LOL
So what say you in the Igloo....

Hey Juice - great question!
Since the vast majority of people here are of the female persuasion, we have a twice-yearly event called "Swapkins" - Someone steps up to host it, everyone brings the clothes they've shrunk out of, they're all laid out by size, and it's a free-for-all. Get rid of what you can't wear, take some "new to you" stuff that others have brought! It's really pretty amazing, I survived my first year + on many things I got at Swapkins! And everything that's left (which is
QUITE a significant amount!) gets donated to the charity of the host's choice - usually a women's shelter, some things have certainly made it to Goodwill, etc. Unfortunately, there have not been a lot of men involved.
So I would go with Goodwill, or some other similar charity. If you have some REALLY nice things (why do I suspect you do?), you could take them to a consignment shop and get a few bucks for them. Plato's Closet, TurnStyle, Clothes Mentor, those would be just a few.
Drawers and such? Might be fun to do the bonfire thing with those!! Just 'cuz you can!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
I am donating my work attire to a place that help people who can't afford business and professional clothing, find something for an interview. I cant think of the name because its located downstairs in my office. A lot of people need work clothes. Its one hinderance when finding a job if you are low or no income or just never had a need for proessional clothes.
Jeans and things like that are going to good will.
I'm sure they have a need for work attire in your area. Just contact your local Dept. of Public Social Services for more info.

I take many things to the plus size consignment shop here in town. What they do not want I take to the used a bit stores and donate. I have also given to nursing homes, hospitals, women's shelters to name a couple. The really nice stuff (business) I send to a "Dress for Success" project.
There is also a group here that sends things over to 3rd world places for those in need. No clothing items should ever do wasted in a landfill
Ok, that was my 2 cents worth LOL
