How do you deal with an Idiot that is a relative?

I am hoping to have surgery soon. My pancreas is less than 20%. That said. I mentioned to my not skinny Brother-in-law that I have a surgeon consult in March. He says" Oh You don't need that all you need is to stop putting your hand to your mouth. Maybe get some kind of brace so that your elbows don't bend--ha-ha" What an idiot. I just walked away--mostly because he is my hubby's brother and I didn't think I should deck him. Why are there so many idiots out there?

To equal everything out. For every brilliant person there has to be an idiot, otherwise the world would not spin right. :) :) 

I think I would have asked him why HE didn't have one of those braces...if he's not so skinny himself.

People like that...I don't argue with.  The best revenge is your success.  Plain and simple.

You can't fix stupid.  Examples abound - just smile and do your own thing.

Consider the source and is he worth the brain cell he was given. Remember you are doing this for you, not him or the world. When he calls you "Smokin Hot" have a good retort ready.

Kudos for using restraint!  I would have asked him why he didn't have his mouth wired shut so he didn't sound like such an idiot!

On a serious side....your hubby should have a chat with his brother.  How rude.

OMG, Dedicated has it right on the nose!  This is one reason why I'm not telling more than 1 or 2 of my 6 siblings.  None of them are as ruthless as your BIL but jeez.
