Ok.... Get you minds out of the gutter.

I was wondering how long everyone was out of work after Lap-RNY? I know it all depends on what type of work you do but I was told today that I had to have a dr's note saying that i was 100% before i could return to work.

Thanks,
Dave

I had laproscopic RNY and I took 6 weeks just cuz I had the sick time saved up from work - but i could have probably gone back at 2 weeks - but i have a desk job.  For me I was more tired than sore after surgery.

Before my doc went in to do the lap RNY, he had to open me up and fix a hernia, and took my appendix out as well.  (It had wiggled into the hernia and become adhesed..)

So I had a three-fer!  And I took 4 weeks off, mostly because I could.  I'm like Linda, I was more tired than sore, even with the extra work.

I took 2 weeks off and felt fine to go back from a scheduled 3 weeks off.

I took four weeks off, I am a nurse with PNC and I don't even have a chair at my station so I had to be able to stand all day with out discomfort and be able to lift 100lbs, in case a pt went down... I actually found the time really helpful especially since I had to get a new routine down with the water and food and all the wonderful stuff that comes along with it too!

I do office work and took 2 weeks off, but really think I could have gone back sooner.  I agree with others . . . its more about being tired than sore.  I think much of it has to do with how many pain meds you need.

Great Question - My surgery is scheduled for 3/30 and I told my work one week and then the monday after and then maybe coming in for 1/2 days after that on the second week.  I can be at my desk the whole time but will need to be driving to and from work - 30min. drive.  So all of the people that can - please reply and let me know if I'm out of my mind.
Thanks!

I had surgery on Feb. 13 and took the following week off.  I work at a desk and in my clients' homes.  By the 17th I was going stir crazy and wished I had taken less time off.  I felt ready to go back at that time.
