i quit pop last year 3 months before surgery and haven't had one since - don't miss it.

If i need something cold - it is a crystal light packet or a iced latte.

I do not drink pop either! I was always told from my clinic this was a no-no.
I would say just stay away!

I gave it up when I decided to pursue WLS.  I don't miss it, either  - where are you getting the idea that a lot of people are drinking pop?  I know there was recently a conversation about Coke helping when someone gets stuck, and I know there ARE people that drink pop, but I don' t recall seeing anything about it recently..

Seriously, don't do it.  The few sips I've taken out of desperation have been PAINFUL!

I am a LapBander, but we also shouldn't drink soda. I used to be obsessed with Coca-Cola... but now it's just BLAH. I told myself that I'd allow myself one 8oz glass bottle of half-flat Coke a month, but I haven't even done that. I think I've drank Coke maybe 4 times since surgery... and it's nothing exciting.

I haven't had pop since before surgery.......I don't want it or miss it either......There are so many different flavored Crystal light packets out there now........

I can't remember what my nurse had said, but she said NEVER to drink pop, it can cause something with your pouch??? DON'T GO THERE.......It's really not worth it.....

Okay, looks like I'm the blaaaak sheeeep....Yes, I do drink pop....Never ever a type that has calories.  Its on many peoples taboo list, but not mine.  I reduce the carbonation as much as possible.  I've had dicussions with my NUT and she told me not to worry, so I don't.  It is great advice to not drink it, and if you do you face the angst of the rule fairy, but it's not been a problem for me.

FYI, this question gets asked about every two months, followed by the thread of "is alcohol ok?"

Just my 2 Diet Mountain Dews...

I too, am a pop drinker-but only diet mtn dew, and only in the morning on the way to work....and sometimes another one if I am REALLY sleepy in the morning.  I have tried to stay away from it, but since I don't ever drink coffee, it tends to be my wakeup fix.  I make it as flat as possible though, because bubbles do not feel good.  I also drink A LOT of water the rest of the day-upwards of 3 liters or more.  BTW-yes, I know that there is Crystal lite that has caffeine-but it is way toooooo sweet for me.
just MY 2 cents and a couple of diet dew!
