OT - Prayers for Junebug and Amanda
Thank you, everyone - I truly do believe in the power of prayer.
The good news? Junebug came through her surgery pretty well. They found two tumors, one in the lower lobe and one in the middle lobe. The surgeon feels confident he removed all the cancerous tissue - he checked her lymph nodes, and they were clear. He did not remove either lobe of the lung, as he felt that would be too invasive, and too much for her to take. He does not feel that chemo will be called for at this time, but frequent monitoring. If chemo becomes necessary, they will give her the gentlest course possible. She is still pretty fragile - but managed to warn me, when she was brought up to the
ICU, that she was crabby and I shouldn't listen to her. I told her her boob was showing.
The bad news? Amanda had a small stroke yesterday. Turns out with all the bruising that is symptomatic of leukemia, she had developed a small clot behind her ear. NOT good news for a 16 year old girl. She has a Hickman (a kind of port, as I understand it) in place for her chemo, and has already had one full transfusion. Fortunately, her brain appears to be clean and unaffected by the cancer - hopefully, she will not suffer any lasting effects from the stroke.
And I was feeling sorry for myself and my pathetic little "code"...
