Last night my wife and I ate at Solara...a downtown Tapas Bar....
I had never before eaten at this type of restaurant

This is the opposite of an all you can eat buffet....or at least that's how I describe it.  We did the sample tour, which means you pick a category and the chef prepares you 8 courses.  Can you eat 8 courses?  Yes, actually.  And there were no leftovers.  Tapas is "small plate".  The portion is very very small, like pretty much just a couple of bites.  Absolutely perfect for me.  I tasted everything.  And I have to say, this was probably the best tasting food I'd ever had.  And it was very very healthy, mostly proteins, with vegtables throughout.

I had octupus, oxtail, seabass, scallops, asparagus, ribs, tomatos, and a few other things.  It was a bit spendy (29 bucks per person) so it's not something I will do regularly, but OMG was it ever good.  It was worth it.

If I am not mistaken, I think Jennifer G. went there too and enjoyed it. I want to do there too at some point... would be interesting to try the yummies.

I love Solara! My favorites are the ham and cheese croquettas (SP?) and the stuffed dates.  The dates are the best! WH thinks it's too pricey, so I go there with girlfriends prior to shows at the theatre district. It's also a great place for a business dinner - out of town guests seem to really like it.
