One Bite

I have to share this! I didn't think it would work, but read on...

A dear friend of mine (and BTW, she's post WLS and has been extremely successful on her journey) taught me long ago that ONE BITE satisfies after WLS. And my friends, I tell you this as honest as I can...I didn't believe her before surgery. Nope, not one stinkin' bit!

However, after my surgery, I thought about this a lot. I wondered how it could be true.

So, the other day, my son had a cookie at an after school event we were at and I was drooling just looking at it and smelling it. ugh! I was starting to resent being at this event and truthfully, I was getting a little cranky.
AHA moment...ONE BITE! So I asked my son if I could have just one small bite of his cookie and he gladly shared. You know what? That one bite was totally enough. I let the cookie kind of melt in my mouth a little and I savored that bite as best I could. And after that, the craving was over and I didn't have all the guilt that I normally would have pre-surgery when I probably would have had my own cookie, or two..uh, or three.

So I'd encourage you to adopt this little trick and put it in your arsenal of tools for your journey. If there is something that you're craving, see if one bite won't resolve it for you. Give it a try!

Amy I agree with you and your friend "one bite" is truly enough. There are somethings I just won't try and there are other things where a bite won't hurt. At least that bite gets what I'm thinking out of my mind.

Good Post!!

Hope all is going well with you!!

I agree with you. I let myself have chocolate every day... but only a few little squares of it! It's delicious and I don't need much!!

I agree with you on this one too.  I'm really strict on myself when it comes to sugar and yesterday we went out to eat for breakfast and I really wanted to have some french toast with syrup but I didn't want to give into my craving and my husband helped talked me out of it and I ordered scrambled eggs instead.  My husband still went for the french toast and gave me a little bite and I am glad I just had that 1 bite it was enough for me to get rid of that craving and I felt good that I resisted ordering a whole plate of french toast.

I May try this- Good idea!  But I also still worry if one bite will have too much sugar for me and make me sick.
