Getting approved with HealthPartners

I'm just starting the process and HealthPartners requires a BMI of 40+ for two years or 35+ with health conditions and I have neither.  Will I automatically be denied or are there ways around this criteria?  Thanks!

I had HP at the time I had surgery (July 2008) and I was worried that they would not approve me but I had no problem.  My BMI was just at 40 (depending on if I was 5'3 or 5'4 :)  The 35 BMI health criteria can be a lot of things: high cholesterol, depression, back pain, etc.  Don't give up.  But if I can ask, what is your BMI?  Or is it the 2 year thing?  I did have to wait about 2 months before they would submit to make sure I had a recorded 2 year history.  HP also makes you do 5 phone calls with one of their dietitians - these were actually helpful.

I have health partners and nothing was a problem.  I had no comorbidities.  I did not have to show proff of two year BMI just my current BMI.  Approved first time and it took one week after submitting to get an answer it was a holiday week so it may not have taken as long.  I think it will go smooth for you!!

They have requirements so people are approved based on medical need. I'm curious what I'm missing out of this question, as to why you need surgery if you dont meet these pretty basic requirements?

Hiding as its my 1st post in probably a year or so... And hopefully not taken as too negative. Just not sure why someone would want surgery if they didn't really need it. It's a long hard journey to take lightly, and without trying everything else first.

I'm at my highest weight now with a bmi of 42 but don't know if it was over 40 two years ago and wondering if that'll be a reason for a denial.
