Impatient
So, I went to the diabetic doctor Thursday. I am now on 7 shots a day grrrrrrr!!!!
The surgeon was going to send the forms off to the insurance last Tuesday. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN. There were some people at my last dieitcian appointment that have BCBS of North Dakota. They only had to do 3 months of jumping thru insurance hoops. I had to do 6 months. So has any one else had BCBS of MN. How long did it take to get approved? My diabetic Dr. said that it usually takes 1 month.

I am also a BCBS of MN subscriber. Once I completed all of the requirements (I got in just under the 3 months of dietician appointment rule) it took about 10 days until I received my approval letter. It sounds as though your diabetes is pretty brittle- which will most likely lead to approval.
When I submitted for insurance I was taking a huge amount of Metformin, 5 shots of insulin per day as well as 3 shots of insulin sensitizer for a total of 220 units of insulin and 60 units of Symlin. I now take 10 units of Lantus per day, and that is it. My A1C has dropped from 11.1 to 6.4- and I will be having it checked again on Tuesday. I may not be able to undo what diabetes has done to my body- but going forward I won't have any other complications.
Good luck with the next part of your journey!!
