HELP O'WISE ONES!
I normally just read the posting, but today I need the advise of the wise ones on the site.
I had my surgery 1/21/09 and as of 3/2/09 had lost 33 lbs., but that is where I have stopped and actually gained back 3 lbs. I have not lost anything since then and it has been over a week and am wondering if it is normal to stall out so soon after surgery. I am adding what I have been eating at the end.
I am also walking at lunch around the skyway in MPLS and at night spend quality time with my elipical and dumbells.
I am welcoming any comments and/or advice.

B: 1/4 c eggbeaters
L: 1/2 cup im. crab meat w/celery
D: 1 shrimp, 1/2 im crab meat stick and 1 cheese stick

Thanks, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl...stalls are fairly normal at this stage. Are you getting in enough water?? Too much salt?? Eat more dense protein...chicken, pork, beef, fish. Change your diet around a little. Sometimes that is all it takes.

Good luck...you really are doing good. Don't be worrying!!

Thanks, Connie.

Water is my second name. I drink between a quart and a gallon a day. I will keep in mind my salt intake, I not aware of how much salt I am consuming. As for the dense protein, I am not ready for that yet. It doesn't sit well with me stomach. I will try changing things up a bit.

I just don't want to fail at this, so I believe I am mirco analysing everything.

Thanks for all your advise. It is really appreciated!

You could be losing inches too. Sometimes the scale stops but the inches fall off........... I wouldn't let it get to you!!!!!  Good luck and keep up the great work!!
Hugs to you,
Marsha

I think this is normal I had my surgery in Jan of 2008 and I remember being at a stall in March 2008.   It will start moving again just follow the plan and things will move.  I'm sure you are also losing inches even if the scale isn't moving.

This is normal...for some!  I stalled 3 weeks after surgery for about 3 weeks, it was frustrating to say the least, but just know that this surgery does work!! Being such an impatient person didn't help me either, those 3 weeks felt like a year, but eventually it will come off!! Keep up the great work!!!

Maybe you've heard this before, maybe not - but if you're not losing pounds, you ARE losing inches.  Pay attention to how your clothes fit during this little stall - you'll probably be surprised to find yourself down a size!

You body NEEDS to take breaks from losing, to snug up and re-adjust to your dropping weight, your changing center of gravity.  Just keep doing what you're supposed to be doing, and it'll kick back in.

And here's a forewarning to you and other newer-be's out there:  If there was a weight where you spent a pretty good amount of time on your way UP the scale, there's a good chance you're going to experience a pretty significant stall at that weight on your way DOWN the scale.  For me, it was 240.  I was 240 for YEARS before I packed on even more.  And on my way down, I STAYED at 240 for a MADDENING amount of time!  But our bodies recognize the familiar, and I believe (and have heard from others) that it's not at all unusual for it to linger there for a while.

So you have now, officially, been warned about THAT potential step in the journey.  Just don't let it freak you out!

Thanks, Darla, for the official warning. Greatly appreciated!

I know I should not worry about the pounds if I am doing what I should, but I was just feeling fustrated, and this site seemed like the right spot to vent.

I didn't realize that where you spent a good deal of time in weight, would be a stall point. I am at that weight, so with that in mind I will exercise patience! So, I will be maddened and take it for awhile. I just wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong.

Thanks again, everyone for all your wonderful advise.

You could be eating too little... it's a hard concept to wrap our brains around, but we need a decent amount of healthy calories for our body to keep losing sometimes.
