Liquid Diet
Hi Jen,
You can do this! I did 3 weeks a year ago, and I did the Boost 3x a day. Get the higher protein ones if you can.
Like everyone else said, drink a lot of water the in between the shakes. Hot tea really helped me get through it.
Also I didn'****ch live TV during the liguid diet. Too many commercials! I also chewed a lot of gum to help out!
Stay strong, come here for support, it does get easier!
Take care!

Just make up your mind that for once, YOU are in charge, not food, not cravings, but YOU.
You've made a decision to have this surgery to improve the quality of your life, never forget that. If it helps, allow yourself to get PISSED at food for what it has done to you! Look at it as your opponent for now, and DECIDE you are going to WIN this battle! It'll get easier, it truly will.
And like LJ said, if you can get your mind in the right place, you might even come to realize the LD is a great thing! Very freeing. I've never felt more CLARITY in my relationship with food, before or even since. If I could drink it? It was okay. If chewing was involved? It just couldn't happen. Look for the positive, it really will help!

Imperfect does not = unsuccessful
Thanks y'all. I wonder if I could just sleep the 2 weeks away....don't think work would like that though! LOL
I'm going to get a few more things today to try that others suggested and see if that helps. Have to figure out how to get all my water in too.... Day 3 is about half done, so hopefully it starts getting better. I find I have to sit in a different room when my hubby is eating. He had pizza last night and I really got frustrated!
Thanks again. You guys are great!

Jen I completely feel your pain!! What everyone else said is right though - it DOES get better. It took me about four days to feel okay. I chew A LOT of gum and keep my stomach full with water (too much crystal light bothers my stomach).
I know what you mean about your husband's pizza - that's just rude!! Yesterday I walked in the door from work wa**** with the smell of chocolate chip cookies. My roommate (who has baked cookies maybe 4 times in her life) choose yesterday to make some. I tried eating dinner with my boyfriend (he had Famous Dave's and I had chicken broth), but there was no way that was going to work. Now we eat in different rooms and he doesn't even tell me what he ate. That works MUCH better.
I'm not sure what you're allowed to eat but here is my menu.
B: protein shake, 1/2 C cream of wheat made with milk and I add splenda and cinnamon which makes it much more palatable, 4oz 100% juice
L: protein shake, 1C tomato soup or broth, unsweetened applesauce
D: protein shake, 1C tomato soup or broth, SF pudding
S: 6oz yogert (Dannon lite and fit)
I noticed that if I break these up a bit it's easier to get through the day. So I usually have my 1st protein shake in the AM right after my workout and then the cream of wheat once I get to work. I also save my lunch applesause for about 3 or 4 in the afternoon, which makes it easier to make it to dinner.
I hope some of this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Jen!
I know it seems impossible, but you CAN do it!! Since we go to the same clinic, I know you can have 3 High Protein Boosts or High Protein SlimFast's a day; SF Crystal Light, (I used the Walmart brand...much less expensive!); SF Popsicles; SF Jell-o; plain chicken and/or beef broth, (and believe me, they'll taste like a 12 course meal when you do have them!), and your, (at least), 64 ounces of water a day.
The SF Popsicles were a lifesaver...they take awhile to finish off & they keep your stomach occupied. They really worked then & even now, 5 months following my procedure, they still help.
All the support you can find here will be a huge help to you also!
It won't be long now & you'll be a 'Loser' like the rest of us!
Good Luck!
Audrey

Hi Jen! I feel your pain girlfriend! I am on Day 5 of my liquid diet. I did get a sample from the NUT, but she also said if I don't want to "buy" the program I can shop and the goal is 1000 calories and 80g. of Carbs. Please look at my profile because I have put down exactly what I've been eating these past 5 days with all the nut. info as well.
All I can say is thise - you need to get the protein in as that will satisfy the cravings! Take a look at what I've been eating. Day one was the toughest for me but it's become easier.
I'm doing the 21 day as I have to lose 10lbs before surgery or they will cancel it on me. It's empowering the last few days that I am in control right now.
Take a look let me know if you need anything pointers on this pre-op diet thing. Flavor is important to me so I've been doing beef and chick broth, Crystal Light SF Candies to suck on, SF gum etc. I miss the crunch of food so I lightly freeze by water and get to suck/chew on the ice which helps.
Please look at my profile and blog.
Good luck babe keep the faith that this is important - you can do it!

Thank you all again. You've all been a great help.
Yesterday was much better than the first 2 days. Headache wasn't as intense as it was before, and I didn't have to take an afternoon nap to feel better. You all were right when you said it'd get better, but I'm a pessimist. What can I say.
I am having 3 boosts a day, so that's about 45g of protein. I might add another one in. I'm just now getting in all 64 oz of water. That's a difficult task but getting it in. Granted 32 oz is water, 16 is Diet Lipton Green Tea, and 16 is chicken bullion. I've also got the Crystal Light stuff and my mom found some other tea stuff that she thought I might like. Oh, and she found my water! Aquafina Flavor splash Strawberry Kiwi. That right there makes me happy! I love that stuff.
Ok, I'm babbling. Time to get busy. I just got the day off from work!
