Meeting with surgeon thru Fairview Southdale, Questions about Pre-Op information
Golly it has only been a little over a year you would think I would remember....... if I can remember right I had 1 meeting with Dr. Benn a couple with the other ladies and 1-2 classes. Liquid diet was the day before surgery. Everyhting happened so fast for me it is kind of a blurr...... Good luck to you and keep us posted. Hope this helps a little........
Surgeon consult is one on one. The preop class to me was very similar to the info session. More specifics on what to expect day of surgery , while in the hospital, eating after, vitamins, etc. I wish I could have skipped it to tell you the truth. The day before surgery, liquids only, not a big deal.

Gee, I'm about 16 mos out - but this is what I recall. Surgeon meeting is one on one - I actually scheduled an additional surgeon one on one and brought my parents to meet him and ask questions (it helped to calm their fears) - Dr Pierce is wonderful! Funny, but he actually ended up doing my Dad's hernia repair about 2 months later (Dad was really impressed with him, I guess).
I don't recall a pre-op class - must be something new (at least since my surgery)
No, liquid diet other than the day/night before.

I went to a pre-op class this past Wed. and there were at least 12 people there. It was a lot like the info meeting, more of a review of everything you've learned over the past 6 months. The meeting with your surgeon is one on one. I took my husband as well as a list of questions and scary articles I found online. I liked him because he spent a lot of time with me and wasn't annoyed by all of my questions. Fairview SD doesn't require a pre-op liquid diet, I asked why (of course!) and he said it was false weight loss, or something like that.
I saw your other post about your 10 pounds being hard to get off...I hear you! I had a very difficult time, and Sally only made it more difficult (hate her!). When I finally realized that I was that close, I knew I needed to do it if I wanted surgery. So, I put up post its around my house with my pre-surgery goal weight, worked out 45-60 minutes a day, and ate protein bar for breakfast, string cheese for a snack and fruit and smart ones/lean cuisine meals for lunch and dinner, and wrote down everything I put into my mouth. Kristi from OH who also had dr. pierce was very helpful and supportive and had many good ideas .
Good luck!
