Was anyone a picky eater before WLS? If so...

Do you find you have a variety of foods you can eat now after surgery? Do you like foods you  never liked before surgery? What does your grocery shopping list look like now since WLS?

I can eat pretty much anything now. I do not eat pasta, rice, or much for potatoes. That is my choice.

I buy mostly meats, fish, poultry, beans and lots of fresh vegetables. Oh yes...eggs and cheese too!

I never cared that much for peppers before but now I can't get enough of them!! I buy every color I can find.

I seem to have picked up a fondness for HOT STUFF!  But enough about the men on this board...

Pepperjack cheese, hotter salsa's, I'm just WAY more into spicy than I used to be!  Maybe not being able to EAT much makes me want to FEEL it more?  I don't know, I haven't figured that out yet...

Oh - and my issue with coffee has been an indirect result of the surgery.  More a direct result of the people I've met AT coffee's SINCE the journey began...   Although it has morphed into a full-blown coffee thing, I'm afraid.

And because I drink extra water to make up for the java, I pee a lot.  Not that you asked...

Oh yeah, i was a very picky eater before surgery, and was concerned about getting bored with my new diet.  however, i have found that my tastes have changed, and I am trying and enjoying a much wider variety of foods.

I was somewhat of a picky eater . . . it had to be food or I didn't want it!    Seriously, I hadn't drank milk since 2nd grade, and now I actually look forward to it.  Didn't used to like fish and now its one of my favorites.  I was never big on spicy foods but now really enjoy salsa on about anything.  The reduction in the grocery bill is one of the things I find most amazing in this "journey."  Sometimes, I find myself wandering around in the grocery store, like I'm lost and don't know how to get to the checkouts with so few things in the cart.  Recently, I've found myself scouting out the male shoppers in Cub Foods rather than spending my time scouting out the donuts in the bakery or the treats in the ice cream freezer.  Haven't dragged any of them to the checkout yet, but you never know . . .
