Energy after Surgery

Oh my goodness! Here we are...3:30 a.m. & I still have not gone to bed. I mean, I've tried. Several times. But it just isn't happening. All this new energy my body has is catching up to me I think. And there isn't anything left to clean in this house of mine to prove it!

Did you experience this? How did you deal with it? I'm trying my best to embrace it but I don't want to be down all day tomorrow because of it either.

Good Morning Amy-

You can always come to my house and clean!!  Even in the middle of the night :-).  I definitely have more energy, even with the anemia.  But at the same time, once I go to sleep I sleep really well!

You may want to try unwinding for an hour or so before you try to sleep.  No computer, no TV,just relaxation.  What worked for me was reading and meditation.  Also, make sure you are not exercising within 3 - 4 hours of trying to sleep- I have read that many, many times.

Hope you have a GREAT Day!

Hi Amy,

Yes, I can relate to what you are going through.  I'm not sure what causes it but many who have surgery go through some time of insomnia.  I think maybe it is our bodies trying to adjust to all the changes.  I wish I had some great advice that would be some miracle fix but I do not.  What I do know is after quite a bit of time the insomnia passed and I now sleep a normal nights sleep.

Maybe mention the lack of sleep to your doctor.  We do have so much more energy and that is a good thing.  The insomnia is hard on us both mentally and physically  and that is a bad thing so I would certainly encourage you to discuss it with your Doctor.

Have a fantastic day and I hope you were able to get some sleep.

Peace and happiness,

Linda

Have you tried a relaxation cd playing while you're in bed?  I had trouble fallling asleep when I was pregnant and found listening to a cd like this, while in bed, I'd drift off probably within 15 minutes.

Good for you having all that energy though.  I definately feel more energy now at 3 months out, now if I could just get my low back fixed, I could put that energy to good use. My house is a disaster area.

AMY - PUT THE CUP DOWN AND WALK AWAY FROM THE COFFEE!!!

Just teasin'...  Reenie stole MY comeback, offering up my house to clean.  ugh...

Seriously, when I have a hard time sleeping, one lil' Tylenol PM does the trick quite nicely.  Not that I'm advocating better sleep through chemistry, but it beats being a slug all day from not sleeping the night before!

Miss you, hope to see you soon!!!
