How long were your process before getting approve

I have Health partners insursance and would like to have my surgery at hcmc and was wondering how long was the process before it get summitted to insurance and after approval how long was it to get a surgery date

It varies for everyone dear.  It depends on what your ins. requires.  Any pre-op testing?  sleep eval, physc eval, sup. diet???  Those three things could take months to get all together and then submitted to insurance.  Then you have to probably go through a class or two at HCMC - and then get scheduled for a surgeon who might be popular and booked out quite far.  So no one can really answer this for you directly because the process takes so long.

I went to my informational seminar in mid December 08.  Through the whole process it took 3.5 months to get to the date of surgery.

I have Health Partners, too, and am waiting to hear back on my pre-approval right now.  I'm not sure about the whole surgery date thing, since I went with FSWLS, but I can help you with the insurance stuff.  The first thing you need to do is get registered for the phone counseling program they require, if you haven't already.  It takes a long time to get going and you can get the other stuff taken care of while you work on that.  Once you're registered you'll have a phone appointment every 2 weeks, and they won't process your pre-approval until you've done 4 or 5 of them, I can't remember which.  I have all of the info for the requirements and stuff, PM me if you like and I can send it to you.  Good luck!
