Medica WLS requirement

I have Medica Choice Select and I got a letter from HCMC today and it said that Medica requires that I do a 3-month medically supervised diet/exercise plan in order to qualify for surgery. I've always tried to lose weight on my own in the past and I'm worried that if I do this diet that they require that I won't qualify for surgery afterwards. Does anyone know of ways around this?

Thanks!

Medica is my primary insurance and I did not have to follow the diet/exercise regime due to comorbidities.  If you have other health issues you might not need to do it.

Can I ask which comorbidities you had?

Good Morning,

I also had Medica and  had to participate in the 3 month medically supervised diet plan.

When the clinic submitted my information for approval they used my weight from the very first appointment I had with them.

I was approved by Medica in about 4 working days (starting BMI of 40.2, no co-morbidities).

Thanks, that gives me some hope! My BMI is about 41 now but I still need to be checked for high cholesterol (which I'm almost positive I have) and possibly high blood pressure.
