Hi guys,

I'm 5 days post op.  Things have been going very well.  Learning all about my pouch.

One question I had is about the stomach muscles.  Mine hurt when I exert to move around from a chair or bed.  Am I gonna pull something or damage it by using what I have?  I'm trying not to strain them.  Also, how long until you didn't feel them any more?  Thanks for the words of wisdom.

most likely you aren't going to hurt anything - watch your incisions.  I think i was sore about 2 weeks - did they send you home with a binder - i found that was comforting to have - just helpe me hold them in.

Congrats on your surgery!  Yay You!

Yup, they sent me home with a binder.  It helps a whole lot.  And is convenient to pin the drain to.
Thanks!

I remember that dreaded binder. I also remember having some pain. I say just take it easy for a while and try to avoid to much bending quick movements. For me the I had the most pain my the largest incision that lasted a few weeks. Its different for everyone. I agree that I do not think you will hurt anything.

Congrats on your sugery. Wishing you the best.
God Bless, Angela

I agree with the others - I don't think you'll hurt anything - but is best to take it easy - as uncomfortable as that dear binder can be - USE IT - I found it very helpful in supporting things and minimizing the pain early on

I had left side pain for about 2 weeks, it started feeling better and then I think I over did it. I'm not sure if I was lifting too much or what.  When I started the food stage where you could have pureed meat, I tried canned chicken w/ mayo and it felt stuck. I ended up throwing up and I think that may have hurt my stomach because the pain returned.  Definately keep wearing the binder.

I'm in the same boat as you right now after my gallbladder surgery. I usually hold my belly with my hands when I plan to sit up or do something using those  muscles. It'll go away in a week or two-week's time. But for now... it's definitely not a great feeling.
