Good morning all,
I just had my two week check up things are good and feeling great.
So now on to the next phase of food pureed (yippie) three weeks with no food in the pie hole, well today I had one scrambled egg w/ 1% milk so it was fluffy and not heavy and holy crap it didn't agree with me only ate half and was miserable for over an hour I wished I would of threw it up so I would feel better but I didn't and it passed, I feel fine now.
I suppose I won't know if I should ever have eggs or could it have been the yolk (high in fat)
I did eat slow and chew well, I wonder what gives, maybe too soon for that type of food?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
TrishG

Trish,

Some people can eat scrambled eggs and some can't......Maybe next time try a soft boiled egg, or an easy over egg.......

Good luck.....it's all trial and error......Each of us can tolerate different things......

I went almost a year before I could eat eggs. They hurt and made me feel sick everytime no matter how I fixed them. Even Eggbeaters didn't work. The yolks seemed to be the worst of the problem.

Hope it gets better for you soon.

Hi Trish,

I have only had one thing not agree with me and that was S/F CHOCOLATE PUDDING, imagine that. lol  Otherwise everything else I chew...chew...chew. and if I eat too fast, I feel it! Not pleasant at all! Have a great day. ~Jackie

Thanks everyone,
I was afraid it was going to be a trial and answer. I was so looking forward to trying something that resembled food, looks like it will be awhile before I get brave enough to try any form of egg.
And Jackie the sf pudding for me is tolerable but I'm so craving beef or chicken but another week or two says the nut.
Thanks all,

Eggs just don't work for a lot of people. If you really want to try eggs, try doing a coddled egg.

Ingredients:
4 cups water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg

Directions:
Bring water to full boil in saucepan over high heat. Add salt and stir. Carefully crack egg and add to water. Remove pan from heat. Cover and let sit for 6 minutes.

Contributor's note: Coddled eggs are what helped me get through the newbie stage.

It may just be WAY TOO SOON for eggs. When I was at the pureed food stage, it was the consistency of baby food...in fact, that's what I ate -- baby food. I didn't try egss until I was at the SOFT FOOD stage. Every surgeon is a bit different in what is allowed and when. And sorry to say, what you are able to tolerate is a crap shoot inj the beginning. I could eat a little bit one day and the next day the same thing would make me feel sick. I think it is all part of the healing process.

At 4.5 yrs out I still have problems some days with eggs.

Just think, your pouch has only had liquid resistence for the past three weeks--clear liquids and then full liquids. So as you think of stepping up to the next level, think of a consistency somewhere between cream soups and puddings to not quite a soft scrambled egg. Your pouchy needs to get used to feeling the resistence of firmer textures gradually.

I also had to be really carefull with fat and sugar content. Too much of either and I would feel really nauseous. I actually loved the convenience of baby food and was able to use some of the baby food stages as I worked toward eating soft food. I know others would use a blender and make their own. Try buying a small jar of turkey or chicken  baby food so you can see what pureed food cosistency looks like. Or get out a blender and experiment.

Hope this was helpful.

Consider it validation that you DO indeed now have a pouch!   Eggs were one of the things that I did get stuck on for the first few months.  I found them much easier a bit further out - hard boiled and blended with some SF mayo to help it "slide" through was really good at that stage.  Kind of an egg-salad "paste"!

Ham in ANY form was also really difficult for me for months.   It's all a learning process.  Just do yourself a favor, and don't try anything for the first time if you're away from home.

And if you can teach yourself to remove the offending bits down the toilet (not really throwing up, but more like regurgitating!), you WILL feel better quicker!
