My name is Jamie, I'm new here, I have been lurking for a few months. I have learned a lot reading all of the other posts.

I found out last week that I should be having my surgery within the next three weeks. I say should because this was very unexpected, I thought that I would have to wait until June due to the BMI/time requirement with Healthpartners. I will be having my educational nurse visit on Wed and then meet with Dr, Johnson on Friday and then schedule surgery for 10-14 days after that. They have to get insurance approval between the visit with Dr. Johnson and surgery. I still have a hard time believing that this is happening. I almost think that it went to well and that something will stop it.

I'm wondering if anyone else has Healthpartners and got insurance approval after you set your surgery date?

Thanks for you help

Jamie

I have completed the HealthPartners phone education, the psyc eval, the dietician, I've lost the pre-surgery weight, all that I have left is the nurse education and Dr. visit. My only thing that I'm worried about is the BMI for the two year period. I always thought that it was a two year to date, but apparently it is only a year that they look for. So with any luck I will get a date either this friday or next week. That is what I have been told, so I guess I am at the mercy of the insurance company.

Welcome!  I, too, went through the Unity program (surgery last June) and I have been really pleased with them.  Good luck in the weeks ahead!

I can't help you with your HealthPartners question, but if Dr. Johnson and his people think you're good to go, I'd just trust that they know what they're doing!   I became a big believer in Karma as I went through the steps to surgery - green lights on the way to all my appointments, getting in sooner than expected thanks to last minute cancellations, stuff like that!  I didn't let it scare me, I chose to believe it was all a sign that this was the right thing to do!

Think positive!  It's a wonderful, wonderful tool you're working towards - make the most of every single step, you'll never regret it!!
