Surgery Date

I am very excited, and nervous, to share that I have my surgery date, April 21st.  This is all moving so fast!  I can't wait to be on the other side...I am a little nervous about how much time I will have to take off work.  I am having a Lap Band placed, and I can arrange to have a week off, but if I need more than that I may have to take a LOA...

Congratulations Brian!! Getting the date was one of the most exciting parts for me. My uncle had the lap band and was able to go back to work after only 2 days off! He probably pushed it a bit, but he felt great and didn't have any problems returning to work. Everyone recovers differently so it's very important to listen to your body. Check this site out often and keep us updated as your surgery nears. Congratulations again! You'll join us on the loser's bench soon!

Congratulations, Brian!!! It does seem like it goes very fast once it's rolling, huh? I too was unsure about how much time to take off from work. I had surgery on a Monday, took that whole week off and returned to work that following Monday. I didn't really want to go back to work (of course!) but I felt just fine once I was back. It all depends on the type of job that you have obviously. (I have to walk around a lot but I don't have to lift anything heavy or anything like that.) You'll do just fine! And before you know it, it'll be done and you'll actually get to practice all the stuff you've been learning about. And don't be too nervous- it's much better and easier than it seems! :) Allison

CONGRATS on getting your surgery date!  Shoot - that'll be here in NO TIME!  Definitely take the week - more if you can, but if your job isn't overly physical, you should be fine!

Don't be a stranger!  This is an awesome place for support and to ask all the questions that will crop up as you adjust to life with the band!

I am having a lap band on 4/15. I was told that a week off work should be fine, fingers crossed that is true.

good luck!

Congratulations!  You're going to do great!  I had the RNY and honestlyl could have gone back to work in a week. I've heard of several bandsters that felt just fine after a week.  Think positive and it will be!
