One day post-op
Well, I made it. I've had multiple thoughts and experiences....some good, some not so much. For all pre-ops....do NOT fall behind on pain meds, I work as an RN and I feel they are very stingy with med amounts. I'm now on liquid vicodin (which tastes awful). The first dose they gave me was the smaller amount, but then they never brought in my next dose and I was feeling pretty badly. So, when offered the next time, I took the 30mg bigger dose. Now, I feel way better.
I know I'll feel better each day, but the first day and today basically sucks. Hard to rest in hospitals. I still have in my foley catheter because I'm just not peeing very much. I still have oxygen because my O 2 Sats can't maintain. The dietician from the clinic and came in to visit and review orders for next two weeks. I got my first trays. One ounce of juice, 2 ounces of jello and 1 ounce of broth. It took me 45 minutes to eat the jello. The broth tasted the best
I have such a supportive family and great friends and I know this will be a foggy memory some day. It's nice to know there's a place like this where people know what you're going through and you can be honest with your feelings. Thanks all.

The worst part is over... well... almost anyway. Once this week is over, things will slowly feel better! Welcome to the loser's bench!
So glad to hear you're on the mend! I know they made me ask for pain meds. When we found out all I could tolerate was tylenol, they couldn't even give it to me early. My sister almost went to get some to give me. I also had to ask if I could upgrade to extra strength tylenol! Hang in there. I promise it will get better!
