New preop and feeling overwhelmed--Vent

I feel overwhelmed.  Emotionally, physically, financially.  A lot has happened over the past week or so and my surgery wasn't even the biggest part!!  I had surgery 3/31.  I hit a deer a couple of months ago in Wisconsin and the body work ended up hitting a tire, popping a tire, the week before surgery.  This took out some wires in the wheel well and screwed up my electrical system.  I'm horrible with cars and don't trust mechanics to give me (a girl) the scoop, so I let my new boyfriend of two weeks take my bank card and my car in.  Well everything got fixed and was good and my surgery date came, that was smooth.  My kids went to their dad's in Northfield (and that's a story in and of itself, I actually have a restraining order against him) for this whole week (the longest week they've ever been away from me and they are 4 and 2!) and my surgery went great, came home the next day, no problems.  Well while I was in the hospital I had to let my boyfriend take the car back in because the wiring work that got 'fixed' pooped out again so I gave him my bank card again and told him if it costs more, fix it, because I need a car.  Well I got home to find out he took $800 out of my bank account.  I cussed him out, took my card and keys, and kicked him out of my house.  This is the day after my surgery.  So I've spent the whole week home alone, missing my kids more than anything, feeling stupid, broke, wondering how I'm gonna get my car fixed, and aaaaaaaaackkkkkkkk I just wanna scream.  Emotionally I feel depressed and horrible.  I have a history of depression and sometimes I wonder how in the world I passed the psych exam to get this surgery but here I am, 5 days out, wondering what I did to myself, my life, my car, my bank account.  :((((( 

So that's my story.  I haven't even been counting my protein or water because I'm so scatter brained. All I wanna do is take my Percocet and go to sleep, which is what I've been doing until today when I had to work...... oh yeah, my boss calls me the day I get home from the hospital to ask when I'm coming back and tells me if Im gone longer than 3 days I need a doctors note.  Gee, she couldn't tell me that BEFORE surgery?  So I ended up working anyway!! Granted I work at home but still.... just rude.  :(

What the heck do I do now..... am I skinny yet? Heh.

Wow!  You have had quite the ride already.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  Please know that everything you are feeling emotionally is normal!  You have some extra challenges, but keep your eye on your healthier life that is to come. 
As for the now ex-boyfriend- I would urge you to file a police report of the theft.  That is quite a big chunk of cash.  Good for you for not letting him stay with you.

WOW hon!!! you have run the gammut it sounds like! I'm with the others and say report this as theft. He had no right to take any ey money from the account... if they won't do anything for you... chalk it up to lesson learned... I recently learned something like that myself. The main thing you need to focus on now is doing what you promised yourself, and your doctors you would do... count your protien, get your water in and do whatever is needed to get your butt out of self distruct mode. Getting the surgery is such a long process, it took me almost a year from start to finish, I'm 18 months out now and still view it as the best thing I've ever done. Not that it's been easy the whole time, but it was all well worth it. It's time to put yourself out there and take care of yourself so you can care for the little ones. Forget about the men for now... trust me they will be there in abundance shortly LOL.... get a stick and be prepared!!! right now though you need to focus. Sorry if this sounds a little rough, I'm not trying to be... but you've worked hard to get the surgery, now that you you've had it kick butt girl!

As for your ex-boyfriend....I would do what ever it takes to recover that money. What a jerk!!

If he had permission to use your credit card for one purpose, but then ended up stealing money, he has committed a felony and you should press charges.  The specific crime he has committed is "Financial Transaction Credit Card Fraud" and the specific statute is MN 609.821 sub(2).  If you were to read this statute it is identical to what you describe.

You can fill out a police report at your local PD.  Print out your statement as proof.  Sounds like you know him well enough to provide information.

I am very sorry to hear that you were taken advantage of...especially at a point where that was the last thing you needed.  I am very happy you are on the other end of your surgery, but geeze.  I'm also very glad you posted...please continue to do so.  Did you finally get your car fixed?

I agree with Paul:  press charges against the thieving jerk.  There is nothing worse than someone taking advantage of you while you are vulnerable.  What a turd!

On a more positive note....you are on the way to becoming skinnier and more healthy, which will help you be a better, more active Mom.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

WOW, is right!!!

I know it's hard to be without your children, but do take advantage of the time to yourself.  I know you feel scatter brained, but this week focus on yourself and just think it can only go up from here.

Paul gave you some excellent advise on getting your money back and like he said...keep posting.  There is a lot of great support here.

Hey girl whats up i feel your pain when it comes to men stealing money from I had a similar situation last week but thank god it wasnt that much. Me and my man been together for a year now and i trust him at least i though from time to time i would give him my bank and go grocery shopping and he would do well and on 03/27/09 i was checking my bank account and $65 dollars was missing he ordered some obama coin with my card without my permission so i canceled my card and got a new card and i learned to never lend my card out again cuz he can write me number down and use my card.  I feel that when you a big girl men take advantage of you.  But you know what Karma is a ***** keep your head high

Hi everyone thank you so much for your caring words and great advice.  I looked over the Visa No Liability thing they have and it says it applies only to transactions made with a signature, not with the PIN number and he had my PIN number, so I don't think there's much I can do but chalk it up to stupidity and being naive.  He left a few things at my house, Playstation games, phone numbers of other women (naturally) and incidentally, a business card for a probation officer. Ha haha ha ha ha ha!!!! So I emailed him and told him if I didn't get my money back from him, I was going to call this probation officer and tell him what he did!!  Let's hope it works.

I talked to Dr. Drew's office today and they just urged me to drink drink drink, which has been soooo hard to do.  I just have no desire for liquid and nothing tastes right.  I am drinking protein shakes.  My kids are on their way home.  Let's home things get better soon.

My car is mechanically somewhat okay but the stereo doesn't work so something is loose in the wiring again, and the body work never got done. I need a new bumper cover, turn signal assembly, and probably driver's side quarter panel.  I don't even wanna know how much this stuff is gonna cost.  The parts themselves aren't too bad but it's the labor that sucks.
