to be a working fact for you with your skin changes?

I guess my biggest issue so far, has been the changes in my face. It is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see when going to bed. All the extra skin on my face!

Do people use extra make up to hide the wrinkles?Come on guys fess up too LOL, Do you do extra facial exercises to try and snap that skin back into place? Do you not get bothered by it and just let life do whatever is its nature?

I make sure to put make up on daily. I do not use a foundation on my face. I only use eye shadow, mascara, eyebrow pencil, small light color of blush and some light lipstick. The rest I leave up to nature.

I have tried facial exercises, they are silly looking and I was not able to stay with them long enough to see any results. My skin is 47 years old, I don't expect much snap to it. Only a lot of crackle and pop. LOL

So what is your RX to healthy skin?

While I was recovering after my surgery, there was a tv show where this lady who was having her portrait done for some event in her life and was distraught about how saggy her face was looking but didn't want to go under the knife.  She used tape from one jawline to the other, wrapping it behind her neck, tucking it up into her hairline so that her chin and neck didn't sag as much.  I thought it was ridiculous but am starting to understand her concerns.  Not that I'm going to start investing bulk quantities of DUCT tape or anything . . . but hey! Whatever works.  Seriously, one of the compliments I receive most often is that my skin and coloring just look so much healthier (probably because of all the water I drink now) which is more my focus than the sags and bags.  I figure a few wrinkles here an there are a small price to pay -- but then again, I'm no spring chicken so I would expect some wrinkles anyway.  I learned a long time ago that the difference in price between good cosmetics and the drugstore variety is worth the price in the longrun.  I do invest in a professionally done facial a couple of times a year and I think it helps.

I've always been religious with my skin care.  I was an esthitician at one time and learned to always be gentle with the delicate skin under my eyes (I always wear sunglasses so as not to create more wrinkles by squinting) and if necessary, move from the outer corner of the eye to the nose - not from the nose toward the ear.  And cleanse, tone & moisturize morning & night.  Drinking water is extremely helpful too.  I've never done facial exercises.  I'm hoping time will help my skin (all over my body) adjust.
I love the new powder foundations, seem to be light & help to even out skin tone.
I don't worry about the wrinkles....I am who I am.

Sandy,
I used to give facials when I did hair, years ago. Learned long ago about the eye trick. That is one area I have always been careful with. I still ended up with crows feet even though I was so careful LOL. Somethings just happen in life.

I am thinking a nice moisturizer will be in order. I actually was just posting this to see if others had the same thoughts/issues. Rates right up there with the clothes shopping and not knowing your correct size or style anymore. I was not trying to have personal gain from it LOL

Have a wonderful day

I was a Mary Kay consultant at one point...

I am not sure exactly where your wrinkles are but there are tons of products out there that "plump" your skin. Mary Kay does have some great ones that really do work if you wanted to check into them.. Even oil of Olay at target have skin "plumping" serums to try. you can even use eye products on other parts of your face to "plump" them...

And yes.. I always cleanse, and tone, and moisturize. Using a foudation made for aging skin also helps fill in the wrinkles or "puff" the skin up as a base for your make up.

My skin SUCKS since sugery.  I definately notice as I lose, more wrinkles, and I don't like it! Even on my neck. I've been good about moistuizing that area, I never did before.  I used to love that for my age, 37, I didn't have much in the way of wrinkles. UGH!  Plus, I'm not sure if its the hormones released post surgery or the IUD I got placed at the same time, but I'm breaking out more too.  And to top it off, I feel like my hair is thinning.

I bought this thing a while back, never used it of course. Time to break it out and see what kind of firming it can do for me.

I've gotten much more "religious" with moisturizing morning and night.  I'm far from wrinkle free, but I'm far from young, too.  My biggest gripe is my throat - it's not too bad, but it's the one area that I really notice if I DON'T use moisturizer there!

I use Olay in the morning, and at night I use shea butter or cocoa butter - even in my eye area!  Not too bad, for as much volume as I've lost in my face!

ok-I will admit this-I am not a facial/skin/makeup person-I have been known to have the same mascara for a year and only use it a couple times, and then I toss it.  I never use all the creams and potions and stuff-my skin was always very oily and even now, at almost 50, I don't really need a moisturizer unless it's the dead of winter and below zero for a week or more.....and *gasp* I don't use much other than a little plain soap and water to clean my face, since there is hardly ever any makeup on it.
as far as post-op issues, I was SO surprised to see that I had stretch marks on my neck (where it used to be another *****  these have never gone away much-after almost 5 years they have tightened up some, but hey....I am not a spring chicken.  I have figured I can live with it-I have very few wrinkles otherwise, so a turkey neck will just have to be my reminder of my past self.  I am more than what I see in the mirror-literally now that I am a much smaller person!!!
