Heath Partners Approval

I'm wondering how long on average it takes to get an approval from HP? I'm talking if everything goes smoothly. I called them today and they told me that they have 14 business days to approve or deny the request. But that would mean pushing back my surgery. I'm just stressing out, please forgive me.

When my info was first submitted, I heard within that week.  I was denied.  When my info was faxed for an appeal, my surgeon's office was notified I was approved the very next day!  Just keep calling them for a status.  I called everyday!

I had heard to call every day, but I'm wondering if tha could back fire on me? I will keep on and see what happens. The ins. person at the clinic said that she needed 10-14 days for an approval. I know I really need to trust in them they are the ones that do this everyday.

Everytime I called, I heard the 10-14 days thing too.  That didn't stop me from calling either.  My Surgeon's office had told me that HP is very fast in their response time.  In my situation, she was right!  When was your info submitted?  I would think that you will hear by the end of this week.  Also, if you are denied, they can put a rush on your appeal.

You have every right to call every day. They cannot deny because you called (and won't).

Also, call your surgeons office to inquire as to when they submitted it, so that you know the exact date - and ask them how it was submitted (fax, mail, etc.). This will give you a better feel also for the timeline.

You don't need to worry about delaying your surgery yet. Just try to focus on prepping for surgery and have your bag packed so you're ready when you get your call.

I called every day too. I was denied on the last day. When I submitted my appeal, it was approved within the hour. So call! Call! CALL! I found out on a Thursday night I got approved for a surgery I had scheduled for that Tuesday. You can do it.

Thanks for the info ladies! I have HP too and my final appointment I need in order to submit to insurance is on Friday.. as soon as they have that visit summary in their hand, my bariatric office can send it off to HP for approval.. yipee!

Did your office already schedule for surgery? My office won't schedule patients with insurance until they have the approval for this very reason.. just curious... 

I had HP and it took about a week - i called 3 times "just to check the status"  as long as you are friendly with the customer service they are happy to check for you - when they said I was approved I asked (nicely) if they could please fax it to my surgeons office - they did and I called the next day and got scheduled. 

 

 

Thank you all for your encouragement! HP said that they got it today, I think that is why I'm freaking out, my surgery is next Wednesday. Yes my clinic did schedule my surgery at the time I saw the surgeon. I was very thankful because I feel it cut out some time. Just gave me something else to worry about.
