Frusterated
So, I started my liquid protein post op diet on Saturday. It is just for 10 days before I have my lap band put in on the 21st. I have no set weight to lose, but just to reduce the size of my liver. Well Saturday went great, and I didn't have a problem at all. Sunday started okay but I ended up having some Easter brunch. Today went great but when I went great, but Easter left overs were stairing at me when I got home. Unfortunatly I have a roomate and can't just do without food in the house. I just feel so frusterated with myself, now I only have 1 week before the surgery to be on the liquid protein diet ,and really stick to it. I just feel like a failure already before I even have the surgery! Words of encouragement or advice would be helpful. Thanks everyone.
Don't give up, Brian!! Every day that you do well is one step closer to your goal! If you "fall off the wagon" don't beat yourself up. Put Sunday and today behind you and concentrate on tomorrow. Plan everything out. I know for myself, I am going to write everything down and make sure I take everything I need to work with me. I have a husband and two growing boys at home. That will be a challenge! I start my LD on April 20th. Let's keep each other accountable! You can do it!
I can do this, I can do this, I can do this - AND SO CAN YOU!!

Brian,
This is the one of the hardest parts of the journey - head games. Since you can't completely food proof your home, you will need to have strategies to avoid the temptations. I used the time to start a walking program. Whenever I was affronted by FOOD - at work, home, or out with friends - I would take a walk. Some were short just to get away from the temptation like at work, and others were longer. It is also a time to build yourself a support network. Join a support group; join one of the OH coffee groups. These will help you stay on the path and you'll get great ideas, and even better friendships.
I would also do little tricks like brushing my teeth or drinking a ton of water. The extra water will help you shed pounds in this phase and will help fill you up so it is a little easier to resist. Also, it is amazing how many food commercials are on TV. I watched a lot less TV pre and early post-op and it helped. You can do this!!! keep coming here and talking about things-the built in cherring section does wonders!

You want this surgery, you've already jumped through a plethora of hoops to reach this stage of the game.
The thing about making bad choices is that it's an evil, vicious cycle that's hard to break. You eat something when you're not supposed to, then you beat yourself up for it, so you think "F*** it, I might as well chow down a pan of lasagne." Negativity produces more negativity, and pretty soon your swirling downward like water in a freshly flushed toilet.
BREAK that negativity, and you start feeling BETTER about yourself! "Wow - I could have just stuffed that left over (fill in the blank) in my face, but I DIDN'T! YAY ME!!" It BUILDS your confidence, your strength, your determination to be successful!
I think the trick is - don't look at this as a huge, intimidating task ahead of you - face each challenge one at a time. Tell yourself what the RIGHT reaction is to every temptation. Decide you're going to WIN! A few successes under your belt, and you can REVERSE that downward spiral!
